Anyone know much about web pages?
Here's what I want to know:
What does it cost to have someone create and maintain a decent web page for you?
What price range are we talking about and when should one get alarmed that they're being taken to the cleaner's?
Thanks for any advice anyone might have!

Depends on how advanced you want. The web hosting companies make it REAL easy for the layman to make their own site nowadays for anywhere from $5-$100, for the more business like.

$300

lets see to get a basic page with your own domains
domain 8 bucks a year
hosting (shared hosting) good one 10 bucks a month
design no flash no database stuff nothing just HTML some graphics etc for a 5 page site including a logo on rentacoder.com youll get good guys for like 200 to do this
Now if you want to have something with advance flash that can get expensive
If you want a ordering system that again will depend, there are many shopping cart systems, some just use paypals cart etc etc
Database stuff again can be costly depending what you want done
Do not use elance.com use rentacoder.com get many quotes look at their feedback its a great system to avoid getting scammed or getting the run around
most designers and programmers are lazy bullshitters, good luck

Most cheap sites look cheap....period.
You get what you pay for, just like anything else.
Hosting and domain is peanuts. Getting a GOOD design will cost you.
Never mind logo design, image creation, flash, database work, content writing, accessibility, web standards, seo, etc....
