Along with other feats of strength!

Jess was like 6'5, correct? Ultra impressive considering how tall he was. Impressive no matter how you slice it, really.
-
Thats the exercise that killed him.

I was thinking the same thing.....The drugs, plus the extreme strain on his organs over the years prolly did him in. Very sad, he seemed like a great dude.
-
I hate breathing squats
that weight would have buried me before rep 1

Jesse Marunde (6'5", 300 lb, September 14, 1979 - July 25, 2007) was an American Professional Strongman athlete from Sequim, Washington. Jesse is noted for his major influence in bringing the sport of Strongman more mainstream exposure after placing second to Mariusz Pudzianowski at the 2005 Worlds Strongest Man competition.[1]
Born in Glennallen, Alaska simply because that was the nearest hospital (125 miles away), Jesse was raised after birth in Tok, Alaska and then at age 8 Jesse moved to Bristol Bay, Alaska where he spent 10 summers commercial fishing.
[edit] Strength Sports
Jesse was a high-school athlete, playing several sports, including Wrestling, Football, and Track. He received an athletic scholarship to Montana State University, to play football and he also started Olympic lifting.[2] At age 18 he officially closed the No. 3 Captains of Crush Gripper, a hand gripper with 280 lb (127 kg) of resistance, being the youngest person in history to ever achieve certified "Captain of Crush" status.[3]
In 2002, at age 22, Marunde was the youngest American ever to qualify for the World's Strongest Man.[4] His second-place finish in 2005 made him the first American to place in the top two competitors since O.D. Wilson finished second in 1990, behind Jón Páll Sigmarsson.
On July 25, 2007 Marunde died following a workout in Sequim, Washington.[5] The cause of his death was a genetic heart defect, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young athletes.[6]
Jesse Marunde was filming his workout at the time he died.

usually when somebody dies of that they just drop and die. It's nothing cool like frothing at the mouth or shitting themselves while doing the Curly Shuffle.

Meh. Used to be a guy on these boards a while back who squat like that feller. Bust, or something... :D

What's with 407? They counting the collars?
Great squatter. Nice and deep and REAL reps.
I have done 405 for 15 with really good Olympic style.

bullshit unless you prove it :)

Burn2Live can possibly do 10-15 reps with 405 ass to grass.
Seem him do 5 reps preexhausted and he is much stronger now

Maybe the weights were in kilos hence the slightly different number to the usual "405".
Also, epic soothsaying t shirt.

How'd I know someone would suggest I am lying? Dude, I have done 315 for 31, as well. Actually, I once performed 18 with 405, but the form on the last few was abysmal.
I won the USAPL Ohio Powerlifting Championhips in 2001 with a 660-pound squat. This was drug-free and using minimal support gear and an Olympic style (a holdover from my years as a competitive bodybuilder). I have performed a RAW 600 in the gym. I hope to do 700 RAW and drug-free within the next few years.
I no longer train for ultra-high reps. HOWEVER, for fun, I might oblige you doubting Thomases sometime in the next few months.

ok sounds good i belive you. impressive lifts then, props.

I would have thought a guy like Jesse Marunde to do more reps with 407! :-\
Here is a young guy (22) i am training doing a 375 x 15, 285 x 10, 175 x 13 dropset last year.

Nice work! But to be fair, your guy's depth is substantially less than Jesse's. No disrespect. He is a strong kid, to be sure.

thats good. he's a strong dude. however he's not going as deep as marunde. he went below paralel, that guy you are training is above paralell. makes difference.

Thank you for taking my word for it. I DO NOT lie about the poundages I lift. As a purist, to do so is blasphemy, in my books. I take MAJOR issue with bull claims, believe me.
Having said all this, I have wanted to capture some reps on camera for a while now. Perhaps the time is right to consider devoting a few weeks to repping. If I so choose, I will certainly post the footage here for members to witness.
-
You are right.
I was in no way or shape trying to say that my friend here is stronger than Marunde!
I was just thinking as strong as marunde was, he should be able to do more reps or at a faster pace with 405.
The Platz video with 23 reps at 500 comes to mind.
