No.

Worrying does not help.

Are you a woman, man?

Should we evacuate you with the ladies and kids first from the sinking ship?

Harden the fuck up.

Liberals=worry and are pessimistic

Repubs=Doers, builders, get things done

They build $5 trillion of debt in the last 8 years.  Bravo.

irresponsible spending might not mean a lot to you.  You seem to applaud it.

We couldn't afford the Vietnam War anymore because Breton Woods put limitations on spending...you couldn't print to your heart's content. So Nixon got rid of it...

True, but I honestly think that any Congress would have built that debt, maybe not as much but close. The "untouchable" spending that never can be cut or reformed for political reasons (Clinton and Gingrich, a very could but unlikely duo, came the closest) is our welfare state spending. Social Sec. Medicar and Medicaid. 2/3 of our budget right now. It was only half or something in the 90's. That is the biggest part of our budget, and it grows leaps and bounds every budget cycle.

So what I'm saying is that our deficit will grow because of the huge pig that is our Welfare State programs. They need tons of cash and they need more every day. Until that is reformed, we will most likely have to declare insolvency and reissue our currency within our lifetime, I'm 26 so probably 2040 when all the welfare programs trusts are run dry.

So even if you cut the pork, overlapping programs, govt employees, graft/corrupting...hell cut the military as well and it is a drop in the bucket.

From 1913 to 2000, the US borrowed a total of 4.5 trillion bucks.

From 2000 to 2007, the US borrowed in exceoos of 4.5 additional trillion bucks

They doubled the nat'l debt of 87 years, in 7 years.

HAHAH whats even funnier is that trusting in God is more return on investment than trying to cash in your green backs for gold

I don't think most Americans have a sense of how drastically their currency has dropped.
How can they? For the most part, they just deal with dollars... it's all they know.
Those who regularly deal in other currencies as well are far more acutely aware of it's depreciation
