Although it has been rumored for a while now, things seem to be heating up on the BJ Penn Vs. Georges St. Pierre rematch fight.
Fiveouncesofpain.com is reporting that they have heard from several sources that the rematch between two of the top pound for pound fighters in the world could take place on the UFC's year end show, Dec. 27th.
The only thing that appears to be standing in the way of this fight is the outcome of the GSP vs. Jon Fitch Welterweight title fight scheduled for August 9th. Should GSP come out on top in that fight and successfully defend the title, the announcement of GSP vs. BJ Penn 2 most likely won't follow to far behind.

What a terrible idea for BJ.

I don't get it. BJ has plenty of competition coming up with Ken Flo and Huerta battling to see who gets a title shot and a few other pretty good fighters at lightweight and GSP hasn't shown consistence dominance at Welterweight at all. He has his hands very full with John Fitch. I don't like it. :'(

How do you figure? GSP has fought his way back to the title, and obtained it. Not to mention, his journey there wasn't fighting cans. Fitchy will be a good fight for GSP, but he cannot compete with the conditioning and athleticism that Rush brings.

BJ would destroy GSP. His dedication and attitude is so much better. He beat the shit out him before and he'll do it again only this time no judge will make the decision.

Disagree. GSP has embarassed his last three opponents, and I would be willing to bet he ends Fitch before the end of round two. I think BJ would have his hands full with Farber at a catch weight, and GSP would just make him look overmatched.

I love GSP, and I think he beat BJ in the first fight for sure, and I think he would beat BJ in a second fight. I also think he will be the favorite in the Fitch fight, but GSP has not been CONSISTENTLY dominant at welterweight for very long. He lost to Matt Sera! That was awful, no excuse. He did humiliate Sera in the re-match, and I do agree that GSP is one of the best fighters in the world, but he needs to win 7 or 8 straight for me to be comfortable with him looking for competition in other weight classes. Fight Fitch, fight Koscheck, fight Sanchez, whatever, there's good fighters available at 170.

I have BJ winning this fight if and when it goes down... He dominated Sherk and killed I mean fucking killed big daddy. This match would pit two of the best pound for pound fighters in the world!

Other than his loss to Serra, (a freak happening) GSP has beaten all his last nine opponents, including BJ, with his only other loss coming to Hughes, who he had dominated twice since then.
Both these guys have good talent in their division for a few more good fights and need to clean house before attempting to change divisions.

I agree. I want to see BJ fight the winner of the Ken Flo/Huerta match. I think Ken Flo is pretty badass. Also, Fitch hasn't lost a fight in six years. I think he has a 100% legit shot at beating GSP. That's gonna be a GREAT CARD!!

What about Alves? Alves should have had a number one contender match with Fitch first. He just made Matt look like an out of shape, over the hill, wait...

I don't get into betting cash as much with fights.. Anything can happen in the fight game.. I don't mind betting beer though. Me and Iron got a new gig rolling with the beer bets.. ha-ha

True indeed, especially with Penn at the wheel. He is a bad ass fighter, and a worth while matchup for GSP. I wonder what would happen with all of the hype if Fitchy takes the belt..... Hmmmmm.......
