Anyone else remember this cartoon? Bugs Buddy was gonna wrestle this guy. I remember seeing this in elementary school and thought it was cool the way this wrestler was able to flex so many muscles! Ah, the childhood joys of being queer! I'm sure many of you know what I mean. :D

This is one of the best scenes in the movie. We have all seen those before & after shots in the magazines. Both these shots were taken on the same day! Same guy (chris bell). Just doctored photographs. ;D

He is a direct desendant of John L Sullivan the former Heavyweight boxing champion. So he wanted to get into boxing and about a few years after the movie I saw him he was weighing around 195 and looked incredible. He got some disease in his leg and it fucked him up. He is very smart about nutrition and steroids. He has had just some bad luck.

As noted, that's Paul "The Mayor of Venice Beach" "Sully" Sullivan. I've know Paul since 1992-93. One of the nicest cats you'll ever meet. Never has a shortage of words, and is the eternal optimist.

I thought the whole movie was sad. Everyone looked like shit and they either were completely caught up in that bullshit, drug lifestyle, and they were constantly justifying to convince themselves it's fine because there are other drugs or worse drugs, great American logic.

Because after 1920 American Business Greed really got back in control of government policies and got rid of all that anti-trust, anti-monopoly legislation and social programs that had started organizing after the Kaiser model in Germany which came to this country by the largest wave of German immigrants around that time. But it was good times for business right? Murdering labor organizers, paying corrupt police to 'break up' unions gatherings..and by break up, I mean with bats. We had no child labor laws, no employee rights laws, 12 hour workdays, no safety net for worker accidents and no pesky minimum wage.
Those were damn good times I say...right up until that pesky 'Great Depression' 9 years later. Seems like anti-regulation turned out not to be so good to the 'commonwealth' of American. I think it says something in the Constitution that one of governments responsibilities is 'to provide for the general welfare and commonwealth of its citizens'...but maybe I'm misquoting???
Of course it was a socialist president that created the 'New Deal' that saved the country as we know it and put millions of Americans back to work building things like, buildings, roads, bridges, national parks, federal housing. He also created government oversight for the food and water of the nation, gave those pesky veterans a free ride to college after WW2 (commie!) that ushered in the second greatest time of economic prosperity in American History! Thank god he died, huh? Whew...
But then we had Reagan in the 80's that helped deregulate and dismantle many of those 'unsuccessful' social programs of the New Deal. He helped break up those irritating unions and cut funding for single mothers, college students, elderly and the mentally sick. But it was good times for business eh Moosejay?! Well, up until Black Monday and the Savings and loan scandal in 88 where millions of Americans were swindled by unethical business practices...which was rescued (bailed out) again by government (our) tax money. Of course this sinking of the economy unfairly did in Bush the 1st's reelection...something about the economy stupid???
Then that Clinton socialist came in and America enjoyed 8 years of the greatest economic boom of all time...probably another coincidence...but thank god we got rid of him and Gore so we could have the current 8 years of magnificent prosperity we've enjoyed right? Nevermind that public tax money will once again be used to save huge industries like Fannie May and Freddie MAc (private companies that made a killing after they were deregulated in 2001-2002)

True-but it all comes down to one thing basically, lack of income.
Lack of income usually, but not always, comes down to not having a usable skill or trade to make $$$$, and that can be caused by the ecomony more than anything else.
Many times a person is stuck living in a car/van due to bad circumstance beyond their control.

hahahah that is Paul Sullivan. Any regular at Golds Gym Venice knows who Paul is. He is kinda like the Brabarians now. Really nice guy but he has had a really long string of bad luck. Go rent the movie Over The Top you will see him. I love it how you try to be so obscure with posts trying to rag on me and somehow I actually relate to them. Oh well

As good as Roger Stewarts legs look in those vids, they look BETTER in person, some of the best I have ever seen-anywhere. Problem was his had legs as big as Platz and Belknap but had a Middle weights upper body, and he was not that short.
He was only in San Diego a few years, I do not know where he went after he left-he was from Florida so I figured he went back to Florida.
But man, his legs are the shit!
Last time I saw him was the year Matarazzo won the USA (91?)at the Santa Monica Civic Center-he was not competing but he showed up to watch.

The oil was honey in the movie. He once ate a live bird. I broke his arm in 1983 at the Nationals I won in Del Mar. Our match in Over The Top got cut but it was also the match where I pushed Sly down and called him a fucking asshole. I wonder if that is why they cut it out. ;D

Advantages of living in a Van right outside of golds-
1. No sitting in traffic getting roid rage before or after a workout
2. Can workout many times a day or pretend to workout when you see hot women go in and out of the gym
3. TV and shower very close to you're living situation
4. Can hit up golds trash and look for disgarded out of date protein tubs and bars
5. Free cable TV just walking distance in gym
6. You're friends in the gym cant hide from you if they owe you money(you will know exactly what time they train)
7. Opportunities to bribe married people who are messing around on there spouses in cars out in the parking lot...
Advantages of living in a Van down by the river
1. Very quiet, no one bothers you
2. All the fish you can eat
3. You can become one with nature
4. You will no where every star in the galaxy is(almost mayan like)
5. Don't have to worry about kids stealing gas from your van while you sleep
6. You can practice throwing a football without anyone thinking your retarded
7. If you have a very ugly date stay the night, you don't have to worry about any of your gym buddies getting a glimpse of her leaving your house(van)
