Title: Cotto vs Marg
Post by: divcom on July 26, 2008, 11:17:44 PM
Cotto's management should be shot to put him in a fight with a iron chin, body worker like Marg when he was undefeated and could have got a $20M payday with Dela H.  Now...he has to do a rematch and will probably get KO'ed again in another brain damage bout with this guy.

The days of Ali are gone.  Fight tomatos like Mayweather and get paid, and save a couple hundred brain cells.

Great thread. TOO much SIZE AND STRENGTH. That is WHY there are WEIGHT CLASSES. Antonio walks around at almost 200...Cotto should NEVER Fight him. EVER.

I thought Cotto would hold up since in the early rounds he really seemed to have a strategy down and wasn't letting Margarito walk him down.

Who the fuck wants to fight someone like Margarito.  They think De La Hoya's retirement fight in Dec. is going to be against Antonio now since Cotto lost, but why would Oscar take that fight?  He would be fighting a dude who is very inferior in terms of boxing skill, but has an endless motor and an iron chin.  It is just ridiculous.

I don't buy into the whole Mayweather being the best lb-4-lb fighter in the world, but if he could beat Margarito...I'd agree.

Actually...styles make a fight.  Marg crude style is probably a better match for Mayweather to hit and run and keep him off balance vs Cotto who is a bit better boxer and uses body shots to slow runners late in a fight.  Plus FMW doesnt have the stamina problems.  Always thought FMW was running from Cotto...not Marg who is an oversize Hatton.

So much for all the Cotto fans, who were screaming at the top of their lungs that he should get a shot at Floyd "Money" Mayweather!!!

Meanwhile, Mayweather sits retired and undefeated at 39-0 (well, 40-0, if you count his win against the Big Show at WrestleMania  ;D ).

i won a shitload on Margarito, Cotto was never going to win this one, just like Margarito will never win the rematch with Paul Williams styles make fights. Cotto could probably beat williams and give Mayweather a tougher fight than Margarito, as much as i hate Floyd he would play with Margarito. I hope Cotto drops backdown and fights Hatton, hes still the man at 140 just not 147, he would easily knockout Hatton, and hatton thinks he fights like a mexican, but his chin will always be made in England, lights out by round 6.
