Title: That wood chopping/bat swinging exercise?
Post by: tommywishbone on July 29, 2008, 12:17:07 AM
If I see one more muscleless runt, doing that stupid "swinging a bat, chopping wood, disco dance" excercise, while using taking the entire cable crossover machine, I'll kill somebody. Who invented the worthless movement? Why does everyone who does it weigh less than my kitten Biscuit, and why the fcuk are they even allowed in the gym? Stupid exercise.  >:(

The ignorance on training on this board boggles my mind.

I think it's considered a "core" movement Tommy, settle down.  Coach uses it to "hone" his swing. ;D

Rotational and core strength exercise... sometimes good for baseball players? sometimes good for people that chop wood.. functional strength? maybe.

Sport-specific, people.  Golf, tennis, baseball, criquet (or however the fuck you spell it), discus, shotput, etc.  Not everybody in the gym is trying to get as big as possible.

Functional yes. Effects entire core. Sports for the most part are rotational.

It's funny how other peoples own personal choices concerning excercise annoy you guys so much. Try channelling your energy into making some decent posts.

Getting 4 or them for my gym.  Cost quite a bit but it givs you something to do while doing situps/crunches.  Anything that is interactive makes it better for the member.

It's an expensive gym attraction. You can do the same thing with a medicine ball and a wall.

I suppose so.  The "fitness center" i've been training at has them, and I love it.  I do 80-100 reps and my abs are sore for a week. tightened up my loose obliques nicely too.

since they pay for it, i'm ok with it :)

After a good nights sleep, I've decided that I still hate all 'wood choppers' and 'bat swingers.' >:(  And if I EVER see anyone doing crunches and throwing a ball in a hoop at the same time, I'll take the ball and kick it down the street... Oh yes I will! Don't get on my bad side, I'll come to your little village and terrorize everybody.

well i do some rotational exercises, im not all about 'big and manly' exercises, sure they are the core of my training programs but im also about refinement and function.. especially when i at 20 years old get a sore back and have stupid, and easily preventable injuries that i can work on.

$3-4k a pop

that is the regular price.

I used to use a big sledge hammer and pick out a boulder and break it up.  It would take several days for about 2 hours a day.  I would get a hell of a workout and tan too,  I did it down by the water and when tired just jump cool off then start up again.

;D ;D Ditto. It's the personal trainer "phrase de jour"  phrase of the day. It joins such great past "phrase de jours" as "stabilizers", "range of motion", "continuous tension", "belly fat", "base metabolic rate", "body composition", and my favorite ""quality of life."
