Title: colds
Post by: mopar_freak on July 29, 2008, 02:32:34 AM
Hey guys/girls, I was wondering if you could help me out. I am in general very susceptible to getting colds ( especially if I don't get 8 hours of sleep. Neways for the next 6 weeks ill be getting only 4-5 hours a sleep, plus im dieting down and a few days of the week I do zero carbs.
Is that anything I can take other then echinacea and lots of vitamin C and zinc?

Thanks for any info.

echinacea and Vit C don't work against colds.

Post your diet. Maybe your have too low cals so your immune system is down as well.

Are you on roids? How is your training like?

Work out less and add some carbs around training.

I cannot say for sure, but i think you show signs of overwork. Your body needs more rest.

why are you saying vit c has no effect on colds, asorbic acid shortens cold duration dramatically at bowel tolerance.

Glutamine is supposed to help bolster your immune system, although I've never taken it for that reason myself.

hmm. the studies say it doesnt but vitamin c enhances neutrophil and t cell function so i would argue it does. but you are right regarding the specific studies on onset.

L-glutamine and massive amounts of vitamin C might help but no guarantee.  Wash your hands often so you don't get germs into your body in the first place.

put some hand sanitizer in your car and use it as soon as you're done in the gym, don't put your fingers anywhere on your body till you use it.

Thats what i do, i used to get the "cold" all the time, since i have been using a sanitiser i rarely get it, also never touch your eyes and mouth, or face in general, thats how you get it.

Interesting you mention that, i sanitise my body with this, it has selenium sulphide, so any skin diseases or germs/fungus the bitch has will wash straight off

Strong Japanese green tea is supposed to help, of course it's just hear say, but it's not like you'll loose anything for trying. Besides all that it tastes good with lemon and you'll get some EGCG to help out with the diet...
