Its still out there in the open for me... I've yet to decide.
-
2 times a week is pretty easy to fit in on a 6 days a week schedule... three times a week gets a lot harder !

Training more often doesn't mean more progress.

i tried upper body one day lower body next
six on one off
didn't suit me
my strength declined quite rapidly
twice a week is plenty

right now I am only training EOD, and it is a 2 day split
I like it a lot (DC training)
I decided to give this a try since I always did a lot of volume and it obviously didn't put size on me

Each body part once every 7 days, for me.
Any more than that and I will quickly burn out.

You should know. 1 workout a week is at best 52 workouts a year. 52 times to recover and grow. 2 times a week is 104. More windows of opportunity to make the muscle being worked grow, double in fact. If you juice then things are slightly different as the muscle can take more work in a single workout and will spend longer synthesizing protein for growth.
The answer is stunningly obvious. The more times you make the muscle fire, send the message to grow, the quicker and faster it will.

True, but does your muscle grow while you train or while you rest???
I think if you train hard enough ( and especially if your natural ) hitting each body part once a week ( 4 to 5 way split ) , you can grow sufficiently, this way you can recover and grow, and worry more about diet which IMHO is 10x more important than training.
As long as your doing something to stimulate the muscle, i dont think it matters what your doing, but u need to be doing whats right in the kitchen most of all.

i like high volume+high intensity (combo of some heavy weights and some high reps), once every 6 days, taking a day off whenever im still sore. drop sets, negatives, static holds, partial reps, utilizing machines to hit extreme failure. pre exhaust. burn out pump sets at the end of the workout.
whatever it takes to feel as if ive told that muscle GROW GODDAMNIT

I've been considering changing my training to hit each part two times..hmmm
