For the last five years I have always rotated between 3 and 4 day workouts a week. For the last month I have been doing the bodypart a day six days a week and all my lifts are continuing to go up. I was concerened about the extra days at first but I actualy feel better training more days a week. Maybe its because my workouts are only about 35 to 40 min apiece compared to the other schedule they were always over an hour. For those of you on these six day splits how were the gains long term compaired to your standard 3 or 4 day schedule?

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.
As long as you are progressing, stick with it.
Change things up when you stop progressing.

I think you should listen to your body. When I was younger I use to train 6 days a week. Now that I'm older I find that training one body part a day and then taking one to two days off is suitable. That amounts to 5 days on 1 day off, then start the cycle all over again. My body doesn't recover as fast as it use to when I was younger. In addition to that, there is an increasing belief that lower volume training is more beneficial than high volume training. (as mentioned by a previous poster)

I lift weights only 2 times a week. The other 3 days boxing.

I train 3 days per week with weights and 1 day GPP and 1-2 days conditioning. It's a complete workout for what I do. Strength, conditioning, skills/GPP.
