Title: Tanning bed good idea for a "light" tan year round?
Post by: Meso_z on August 06, 2008, 12:47:47 PM
I have noticed than during the winter, where your skin isn't exposed to sun like in the summer, i tend to get some light acne in the arms and shoulders, would going to a tan bed 1-2 times a week help?

Yes, I do it moderately all year round. Twice a week in winter is fine.

Yea i was wondering if its the same as natural sunlight because in summer acne clears completely from it...

It does help with acne for me but nothing beats natural sunlight - whenever I go on holiday and sit out in the sun, the few bits of acne that I do have completely clear up. Make sure the sunbeds you use have seperate face tanners which are more powerful - that tends to work a lot better than just the long tubes alone.

Yeah but how bad are those beds for your skin?

Shit can cause cancer doesn't it?

Anything in moderation is fine - if you abuse them by going on eevry day or going on for too long depending on your skin type then you could have problems further down the line - I've been using them for about ten years with zero problems. It hasn't aged my skin at all.

i can't imagine how insecure you'd have to be to tan in a tanning bed year round. :-X

One of the reasons I started using tanning beds (especially in winter) was to keep ezcema under control. I get it on my back and upper chest. I've had doctors advice and have used various steroidal creams but nothing completely cures it. Ultraviolet light does wonders for it though.

why do you care about the tanning year round ?

I only tan before a show, I never than the rest of the year.
I hate what it does to the skin anyway, you should have a light tan just being outside mowing the lawn and shits like that.

but I know getbig people are millionaires and probably have someone to do those things for them so they don't have to step outside the whole day  :D

depending on which types of cancer you're on the brink of (since we all are) It CAN be dangerous, or it can have no adverse effects at all... ;)
