I guess he hasn't realized yet, that bodybuilding placings in the pros are 80% based on actions/words OFF of the stage...not on it :-\

he's been competing since he was 17 and all he has to show for it is a room full of trophies!
bodybuilding is a VERY expensive endeavor,food,drugs,supplements,entry fees,travel etc etc (i suck and i spend a ridiculous amount of money every week just on food!)
Quincy has a family (kids) to feed................this sport needs a serious "overhaul!
Laura and i crack up/get pissed that Skateboarding,poker playing,hula hooping all get more coverage on ESpn/TV than bodybuilding!

mike i love bbing too but skateboarders,poker,motor cross,are not drugged,tanned,in posing suits and represent little in terms of the country's interest,the other sports u mentioned have more general interest and are promoted as such.

I hear what your saying (i love the sport of bodybuilding tho).......so when a "dog-show" or a "wood chopping contest" or "monster -trucks" get more coverage than the MR Olympia(and have much better prize money) .................i see Quincy's point!

remember in 9o's it had its shot,musclesport usa with stone and terwilliger,musclemagazine espn,bodyshaping,even gilad every day at least 2 to 3 hrs per day.no more tho.its a lost cause.

It does not.
Any sport gets coveage that it does because people enjoy watching it. Only a small % of people enjoy watching shows where men stand onstage in bikinis.
It's that simple. He can get mad if he doesn't quite follow the laws of supply and demand. He chose a sport whose demand for coverage isn't that high. It was his choice. He could have chosen law school or bartending just as easily and made more money.

Bodybuilding would be much more popular if the US government hadn't made suck a big deal about steroids. I'm not saying it would be as popular as skating or poker but it would probably be on ESPN and it would have a shot at being a sport in the Olympics. But fuck that shit, I rather it be less popular and have steroids involved so us true fans can watch the true Freak's at there FREAKIEST.

Hardly. The truth is, bbing has always had the "stigma". Hell, look at someone like Arnold, world-known celebrity with great charisma......if HE CANNOT get bbing over with the masses, nobody can. It's a niche.....that's reality. More people can relate to Poker, so that gets on TV.

I've been saying this for years. Various companies get richer from using the bbers to sell everything from supps, mags to clothing. Yet the people who sell the stuff, don't get much of a cut. Problem is, the bbers have allowed it to be this way for decades. Nobody wants to "rock the boat". Look at guys like Jay or Coleman....as long as they get their cut, who cares about the others who are starving.... :-\

I just spent the last 30 minutes with him on the phone. He is in Tampa for some show and then back to Vegas on Sunday then back out to Texas for the Europa. He sounds great and I hope he does good. He is really one of the nicest pros out there. I had no idea he moved back to Vegas.
I took the guys fishing on a few boats at my show. After they caught the fish, they were then taken to a local fish restaurant and the cooked what the caught and ate till their hearts were content. Quincy had his stuffed and mounted and shipped home I think

Actually not, he is great guy. I will admit that the video does not show his best qualities, but if you have ever competed and feel you deserved a better placing (true or not), you know where he is coming from.

Who the hell enters professional bodybuilding for strictly the money? How many guys make a GOOD living off just bodybuilding....maybe..7-10?
And he has rarely been overlooked, he just looks weird on stage

It is very tough being competitive at his height, I think he should take his own advice and make $$ training clients. Honestly, how many really get into the sport thinking they can make a living solely from prize money.

Quincy is a HUGE guy. His overall shape is a bit off to me in the shoulders and pecs. I think that is part of what hurts him. The rest is the political b.s. that goes on in bodybuilding. I would like to see him do better because I like seeing the big guys do well. I have always preferred mass to symmetry within reason.

I'll vouch for him too. I spoke with him a few times at the local shows in So Cal. Really down to earth guy. I know it might not seem like it, but in person he'll just shoot the works with you as if he knows you. There are some bodybuilders who don't speak out like him or Lee Priest, but when you talk with them it's like you owe them your life for them giving you a minute and lowering themselves to your level. No offense really meant to Shawn, but I've seen him act like this with fans before.

I don't question that he is working hard to try and achieve his goals as they pertain to a level of conditioning. However, it would seem that despite his strident efforts he is coming up short. If that is the case, and I am not certain it is, then maybe he would benefit from re-thinking his approach. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and yet expecting different results.
