Real answer, though probably asshole, too:
Show this pic to any normal person and ask them. Should be obvious.

Exactly.

Because some bitches are too stupid to think this
(http://www.gymstories.com/wp-content/gallery/to-much-test/xena1-21.jpg)
is more attractive than this...
-
There's nothing "female" about it :-\
-
Oh and I can continue like that... I have about 269 reasons in my gymstories "Xena's" gallery, and every single picture in
that gallery is more disgusting than the last one.
People have said they felt down right violated when they they were done viewing the Gallery.

Pics like these....

and this...

Great answers keep it up. Here's another question: There seems to be a fine line between femininity and masculinity in female bodybuilding, why hasn’t this been identified and exploited to increase the popularity of female bodybuilding?
-
Why hasn't this look caught on?

That "thing" is truly frightening. It looks like some sort of creature or gremlin. :-X
These "women" are truly delusional to think that they look good. :-\
-
Now that was 100% asshole.
:)

Real answers
I can't believe you don't know the real answer. Think about it... :-[

I have my thoughts. I want to hear what other people think. Answer this.

Haha. What a mess. Where is Mr. Blackwell when we need him? :D

Male bodybuilders such as Ronnie Coleman, Victor Martinez, etc. get a bad rap from the general population á la "They're too big. That's gross."
Let alone female bodybuilders.
-
I don't see why it's socities job to define what is feminine and what is not. I say leave it up to the individual. If a woman so chooses to get extremely muscular unnaturally just as a Ronnie Coleman or Jay Cutler has gotten unnaturally large, more power to them.

Be good, but don't be too good? Train for mediocrity? Contradictory "sport."

Excellent point! :)

They did.
It failed.

There is a difference, though. The men are still working within the parameters of their own physiology; the women are not. Femininity is most certainly not having more testosterone floating around in your system than an 18-year-old boy. Or a balding and hairy-backed 30-year-old man.
Femininity is all that a healthy female is ... naturally.

"I wanna stay feminine... I think that's why I get so much work... because I still look like a woman..."

Well unless this process is making these women grow testicles than one would argue they are doing the same as males. Either way both males and females within this subculture are pushing their bodies to extreme levels that are beyond normal for either sex.

You are incorrect Mr. Wigg. Female bodybuilding is a huge success.

Please enlighten me.

;D ;D ;D OK, ya got me. Female bodybuilding is deader than disco and smells twice as bad.
Who's to blame? It was always an extremely tough sell, but I'd blame...
1- Promoters
2- Judges (but they could be #1)
3- The bodybuilders
-
I thought it died in the 90's. I guess the schmoes have kept it afloat till now.

Serious answer: 2 things - it hasn't failed everywhere, although mostly yes. The pro ranks and most nations it flopped as many women looked all geared up as we all know. Women with any muscle is a hard sell anyway. Back in the days of Rachel [1st Ms Olympia, pictured below], Anja etc - it was actually more popular - shows sold out, prize money was higher, they were all in the mags etc. Women got all enthused saying they can gear too, judges rewarded it and many stick needles in themself till they ruined any popularity it had :-[
That said, in my neck of the woods it is not a flop. We have severe drug testing [random through year, lifetime bans handed out] and the geared look is not rewarded by judges. It's far more popular here, and what we have [although we have a few frights] is ladies in shape - not many drugged looks.

There are 40 odd island here, and we range. Same as Europe is different; England is different from Russia..same here. Different langauges, laws and lives. Plus, I've lived here for 25 odd years, and work within the bb fed so am familiar with it. With all due respect, that is way different from vacationing.
Both Bajan and Trini women get more than their American counterparts, far. Their national female bodybuilding class winners get all expenses paid for competition for one; international flights, hotels, even transportation. A US winner of female bb gets a plastic trophy, that is a huge difference right there. Also, they will get mainstream news coverage should they do well. They, like me, are subject to drug testing, which makes the entire look different in general. We simply do not have the look that many others do, as drug use is far less prevalent.
