Post by: kevcat on August 09, 2008, 01:38:52 PM

maybe? I'm not going to say they aren't. I think too much credit is given to steroids when you are a world class athlete. There is alot of training involved

gymnasts are short that makes them look bigger than they are
they got genetics for the sport otherwise they wouldnt be on the top level
and theyve trained all their life and youre watching them at the peak of their careers

Helpless jeolous getbigers...... :-\
Always drug drug drug!!

You guys dont have any eyes to see physic.
Their arms are not so huge. Look at their torso and height. They dont have super pec and back which go with their arms.
Just those matters and their low bf condition create an ilusion of big arms.
Ok. Some are big. But far away from the competitive amateur bber.

Im not talking about them being competitive bodybuilders, Im saying there arms are big and muscular for an athlete.I dont think you would get arms like that just training on bars all day for years.Sure they would get defined and maybe bigger, but thats way bigger than a natural athlete IMO

Yes. Everybody can get muscular if they do chinning all day and everyday.
Plus Their training have alot more intensity than normal gym member or bbers.
And they eat like horse too. What can you say?

Hmmmm i guess its possible if you have the genetics, but i still would imagine somethings been used. Some of their arms are as big as their heads.I know theyre midgets but that still doesnt give you arms that size sorry.....

I watched the gymnastst last nite. On the American team, it is very believeable that they are all natural.
They dont want the extra bodyweight. One guy had big biceps, thats all.  They have exactly rthe development that an athlete would get by lifting their bodyweight all day, every day.  For people on this board to cry all drugs shows
how limited your knowledeg is, and how trite the response has become.

Epic jealousy

Very true.  Guys on here just cannot get it in their heads that some people can be good without drugs.  As much testing and shit that goes on with the olympics and what can happen to an athlete and the embarrassment he has to go through if he even got caught doing drugs is just too much to take a chance with.  Gymnasts train so much and have been doing what they do since they were little kids.  Your body can adapt and beside the one kid with the big biceps not one other gymnast on the US team looks like anything special.  They are all ripped and they have functional strength which comes from many years of training.  I know one thing, Ronnie "The Pharmacy" Coleman could never do an Iron Cross or a Giant

The older ones seemed to have a lot more muscle maturity (28 years old or so) than the younger ones (around 21)-especially the Chinese ones-when I was watching. I thought your test began to decrease after 21 or so. Found that interesting, somewhat.

Your comparing a 4'11 gymnast who doesn't really train with weights to a bodybuilder?

Yea you are right.  Why would people who admire guys who HAVE to use drugs to get anywhere in BB and forced to downgrade themselves by doing gay for pay and sell drugs with guys who actually use their god-given natural ability to achieve the status of being the best in the world and have the strength to actually support themselves physically in any type of situtation.

I wouldnt call it jealousy, i was just making a point of my opinion. The guys physiques ( arms ) are impressive, so if its all natural then props to them.
Just one thing...........why dont breakdancers have arms like that with all the bodyweight stuff they do??? ???

You also seem to forget the amount of money that is involved in these sports. And world class doctors like victor conte/patrick arnold. They do it for a living and will do anything to be the best.

You have no idea about the corruption and dirty play in that world.

I do know one thing not one bodybuilder could hold an iron cross or even begin to get into one and they take more drugs then anyone.  If gymnasts take so many drugs why aren't they heavier and more cut.  These guys train everyday for 5+ hours.  Let me give you a lesson.  If you do something from when you were a kid your body gets pretty adaptable.  Especially when you are using your own bodyweight as resistance.  Many many years of this training along with dedication and heart will get you somewhere.  The guys who feel like cheating with drugs are the guys who feel they need it to compete with the guys at the top.  The guys at the top are under a huge microscope.  You don't think the coaches and teams of the other countries would be hounding the IOC and officials to test the top guys for everything possible.  No testing is better than the Olympic testing.  I was told by an old Olympic track coach they could put one drop of liquid sugar in an Olympic sized pool and get results.

At my first gym there was an old, fat guy who used to talk about when he was young and a gymnast, and he told me that one of his teammates was in an iron cross position and had a couple of ribs separate at the bone, just above the sternum.  Said the ends of the bone broke through his skin.  I'm sure it's an embellished story, but I imagine muscle tears are pretty damn common with as ballistic as gymnastics are.

I had a friend in highschool who was a gymnast. He was jacked alright but had two stress fractures in his neck and all sorts of ankle problems. This was as 16-17

Olympic gymnasts are in excellent shape and typically have tremendous upper bodies and outstanding strength.   Are they bb huge?  Of course not.   Are they big as compared to the average man?  Yes.

Yup. Did varsity 'hacker' gymnastics. The guys who excelled and made the national team were all about 5'5"-7"  and were very lean. Probably weighed 140-155lbs tops. Some had outstanding musculature, particularly the upper body, others didn't. Didn't really seem make a difference to overall performance.  Of course, there were event specialists who only did rings or pommel who had great shoulders or parallel bar guys with outstanding arms.

/i excelled at nothing and was rewarded at one meet, judged on int. scoring, with a 2.8!    :D
