His theory of calories being more important than the micronutrient was pretty accurate. NBC showed a video of Michael Phelps yesterday and how he burns over 2000 calories a day swimming. He pretty much eats shit food and yet has no fat on him. They showed him eating greasy crap and he claims that he can't eat enough to put on weight.
For those counting every gram of protein and carbs should be more concerned with calories.

Phelps isn't concerned about calories either. He just eats as much as he can, as often as he can and swims 5 hours a day.
-
yes before adonis everyone in the world including swimmers didnt eat enough calories
thank you adonis!

Not much different than a bodybuilder that works out for 3 hours a day then does two 1 hour sessions of cardio. Yet the bodybuilder doesn't eat shit food when dieting in fear of putting on fat.
-
Phelps is nowhere near the condition of a bodybuilder in competition mode. Laws change beneath 10% BF.

people who just lift and do a little cardio only burn about 500 calories at best doing that.

I don`t agree. Thermodynamics is something nobody can defy.

I read an interview with Dean Karnazes where he said that when doing a 100 mile run etc he stuffs his face with pizza and other junkfood, as it is the only way to get the 10,000 calories down his neck. He does eat clean the rest of the time, however.

I used to swim in HS & that was my favorite part - eating as much as you wanted & always losing weight.

Don't you think the ratio of muscle loss to fat loss changes in that range (taking illegal substances out of the equation)?
-

Yeah, that's what he said. Even claims to be able to nap whilst running ultra-marathons.

you see a marathon or iron man and think youve seen it all then theres nutters like that ;D

I think unless you're swimming 4 miles a day like a world class swimmer you should focus on your macro nutrients if only to be disciplined and healthy.

A Stakes Earning horse Piloting a Fokker III in mid town Manhattan during a Pirate Raid is an original thought wouldn`t you say dear boy?

Wow. I havent been on this site in a year and there is still a thread about True Adonis and his groundbreaking nutritional theory.
BTW, there is more to health than weight/body fat. Eat your vegetables, go easy on dairy, minimum processed food, etc
-
A fokker=WW I german aircraft??

1. Eat your vegetables- YES!
2. Go easy on the Dairy- NO!
3. Processed is too hard to define to catergorize into a food.
Might I add one more...
4. EAT YOUR FRUITS and LOTS OF THEM

Yip!

The difference is Phelps and most athletes train for endurance, they could give a shit about maximizing muscle while also being as lean as possible. Thats why he looks the way he does and bodybuilders look the way they do..
-
I have a friend who runs at minimum 15 miles a day, then bikes 20 and paddles for at least two hours. He does that at least 6 days a week. In fact he once ran 120 marathons in 120 days. And he is over 40 years old

yea but not too many people other than professional athletes burn as many calories a day as micheal phelps.
So this theory doesnt apply to you unless your active throughout the entire day, because if ur not and u eat shit foods, your going to look like shit.
-
Phelps is on hgh, insulin and other stuff and trains his ass off.
