They have a right to defend themselves...

I assume you mean the South Ossetians, yes they do.  The BBC reporter who went in said it right, the Georgians gambled on their military opperation and it backfired.  We now see that they went in and did indeed "heavily target" the people in their homes.  Based on this, what Putin and the Russian president said looks to be true.  The next words out of McCain, Obama and Bush's mouth should be sorry, how can we help and a shitstorm should come down on Georgia's president for doing what he did.  He's no better than Saddam who did exactly the same thing and got hanged for it.  I hope to hell we were not behind Georgia doing this.

example of the bias... Above we see a BBC reporter standing in front of totally destroyed residential areas that were described as "heavily targeted"

Now here is an AP report today:
Russian soldiers walk in a street in Tskhinvali, in the Georgian breakaway province of South Ossetia, Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008. Gutted and shrapnel-scarred buildings testify to fierce street battles and heavy rocket and bomb attacks in the separatist capital of South Ossetia. But there is little evidence civilians were specifically targeted by Georgian troops, as Russia claimshttp://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Georgia-Unrest-Tskhinvali-South-Ossetia/ss/events/wl/050608georgiarussia/s:/ap/20080814/ap_on_re_eu/georgia_russia/im:/080813/481/3b71ee26c6e94eecb9d59e668ed90ead/;_ylt=AugyBNtDftPOV.16nG.w7xJbbBAF

I mean what the fuck, The Georgians just demolished the whole town, heavily targeted residential areas but there is little evidence they targeted civilians ::)  By every picture I've seen, they targeted the whole place for complete destruction!!!!!!!!!!!  It's a fracking goddamned wasteland... but they weren't targeting civilians... uh huh ::)

I think there is much more to this story than we're getting in the US media.

Does anyone here agree with this statement by McCain?:  "I told him that I know I speak for every American when I say to him, today, we are all Georgians,"

We only get so much in the media...and its hard to be passionate because we never have all the info.

I will say that the civilian death count numbers in South Ossetia are probably over stated, but just because they started evacuating before the invasion by Georgia.  The big problem is that many of them had to leave the elderly behind because they could not make the trek so the ones who did get killed were the older folks who couldn't get out.  There are several phone calls where loved ones are talking to the people they left behind and then lost contact with during the fighting.  Had many of them not got out, what would that city look like.  It's very clear by the pictures coming out that the Georgians went in to clear out "the people"  If the people who were able to flee did not, they would all be dead.  The intention was genocide.  The South Ossetians have a very very very long allegiance to Russia.  To reclaim the area, they decided to end the problem...  They had a final solution in mind here and the pictures prove it.  Very disgusting...  It's become clear that in this case, the Russians were in the right.

In this case, and i kid you not, this has been one of the hardest things to try and get all the info on...  Usually you don't get all the info but if you're really interested, you can seek it out and get a pretty good take pretty quick.  In this case, getting all the info was very very hard.  I've probably read a few hundred reports, watched around 300 videos, listened to dozens of personal accounts, on all sides! to get a picture.  I've devoted most of my time since it started reading and watching and listening.  Now how many people are going to go to that kind of trouble... We wouldn't have to if we had a media worth a shit.  So in the end, only a small fraction will actuall go to the trouble to really dig in and find out.  I fucking hate the media, they suck shit, this is their job and they totally fucking fail at it..

At least I know the difference between "your" and "you're".   :D

The Russians were justified in jacking up this fool. All the U.S. media is giving us are Russian "experts" telling us that Putin is planning to invade all the former soviet republics.  ::)

You do know Putin is the Prime Minister, not the president... The guy calling the shots here is the President Dmitry Medvedev.

If you're just getting it from the major networks, that's not going to happen...  This has been a very disapointing show by the media.  Very little info that is quite obviously one sided even on the most liberal of shows.  Very hard to get all the info on this and you won't unless you dig in hard and really research the shit out of it.  And that really pisses me off, the media sucks.

No, he has not designated all Americans to be something else.  Unless you go to "citizen of the world" and in the phrase he said, HE's a citizen of the world and only after saying he's first a citizen of America, which right wing fools like to leave out.

The US media has stopped showing pictures or footage of refugees in the Russio-Georgian conflict. I presume the reason is due to the fact that it was becoming oddly apparent that the refugees were walking into Russia and not Georgia. Now, logic tells us that refugees do not walk into "enemy" territory...

God I hate American media. What a fucking farce!
