I have heard some rather negative things...
-
I've never had any problems with it, but then I've never really been sick or seriously injured. You do hear lots of stories about people being denied cancer drugs, etc due to living in the wrong part of the country.
Getting an NHS dentist is a major pain in the arse, though.

"Hear" "stories", are you implying these stories might not be true.
NHS is a ghetto.
I went in recently for a sprained ankle (turns out it was OK the next day ;D) after a 5 a side footy match.
I go to the local NSH A&E to be greeted by a waiting room full of crack heads, drunks and burqa clad moslems.
Those demographics of what I saw in that waiting room were worthy of genocide.
Thank god that's the first time I've been in my adult life. Strange tho... I pay into a system I never use. Socialism at it's very finest... >:(

Well, Nordic, that's what you get for living "oop north".
In rural Herefordshire, you get a waiting room full of pleasent middle class pensioners (not a Blick, Muslim, chav or Eastern European to be seen) and nice prompt service.
If they would just allow us to start gassing the gypsies, life would be perfect.

How can I be criticised for where I live? It simply shouldn't be this way.
Moslem Elbasouni's?
Some of his family might have been there, you know if his sister wears a burqa and stinks of shit?
-
Crap and so dirty. Don't go in unless you have to, you'll come out with all kinds of serious shit or not come out at all

I was being a bit flippant, but you really can't complain about there being unsavoury characters in a central Manchester waiting room.
I do agree that it's not fair that we put in but don't get anything back, whilst others don't contribute and just take out of the system. However, what is the alternative to the NHS? I like the Dutch model where there is compulsory private insurance, but also some subsidies by the government.
What really annoys me is that they can find money for the alcoholics, methodone for junkies, gastric bands for the obese and boobjobs for the flat chested etc; but they can't find the money for new Alzheimer's drugs or treatments for cancer.
-
My sister was the only white woman in the maternity ward in a famous London hospital.
The NHS is breaking under the weight of the free loaders from the third world. It will eventually end up having to charge.

Yes, I actually have a friend who's mother-in-law is an alcoholic. When asked, she says she's happy cause she gets some nice welfare from it because it's a form of mental illness... fucking pathetic...

Yes, "health tourists" are the lowest of the low and should be executed on site.

Manchester MRI Accident & Emergency 24/7= sheer brutality
-
everything everyone has said so far is true to an extent.... but on the whole its a great free service
this is the 21st century remember..... if we were all alive 100 years ago we would be fucked
-
Good to hear the experiences from the countries with nationalized health care. We'd have rampant abuse here in the states as well because there are plenty of people who think the system owes them...but they don't take care of themselves. Bet it would cost a fortune to run in the states.
-
nhs isnt perfect,, but any country that turns away sick and injured because they havnt got propper insurance cover isnt moraly right... altho got to agree, they waste our taxes on unworthey causes, fuckn politicaly correct girls....

I'll be in York. Mostly white from what I have heard.

Yes, mostly white, except for the mostly non-white demographic.
-
we all know that no president will ever deliver universal health care.
If ANYONE could have done it, well, it woulda been hilary in 92. She had a dem congress I believe, plus a law degree, the prez as her hubby, and unlimited resources.
as Sicko artfully depicts with numbers, sources, and donors... she quickly received a great deal of $ from healthcare donors, and she quickly abandoned her plan.

Well it's not that bad up there. Try sight seeing tho; visiting shit parts of Manchester, Bradford and Oldham etc. Bradford is especially nice this time of year.
You will love it, it's like taking an holiday in Pakistan, only you can drink alcohol on the streets (although you risk being stabbed up by the local paki yobbos).
The amount of moslem men wearing skirts is quite a spectacle.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was banging a fat pakistani girl whose father found out and "honoured" his family by killing them both and then selling them on in the form of a donner kebab to the local residents.

Never had any problem with it whatsoever. Also never been critically ill.
It does the best it can. We should be grateful.
Free healthcare, visits to docs, cheap prescriptions etc all very good. I am thankful for it.

Sorry, you don't understand how the system works. We, the citizens of the UK pay for it, it is OWED to us. It's not a charity.
The problem is my investment in the NHS depreciates to a value converging on 0 because:
- I've used it about 5 times (for minor things) during my life time (my birth is included in that number), yet my funding is equal to a fat prick or chain smoker who needs meds cause they've decided to kill themselves, those around them and also repulse others with their habits. It might even be more... most low life welfare scum are 1) obese & 2) smoke [amongst many other things].
- Non citizens and people who who don't have a positive monetary investment in the service are my equals (cheers socialism ::)) and just as likely to be given a new kidney in the event of an accident ...
Socialism enforces unfair equality, it makes me sick...
-
I live in Belfast i know how it works.
The thing is we dont know how or if we will get ill in our lives. I would happy pay takes amounting to that of a fat fuck for the safety of mind that should i get seriously ill or anyone in my family and need immediate hospital treatment it is there for me.

I understand the point you're making, but the NHS is inherently unfair to the good tax paying citizen.

i see ur point also tho sadly there doesnt seem to be an alternative
