Dont get me wrong, the flick was ok, but the book was one of his best I think. I remember reading it when I was 14 before going to bed and it scared me shitless. lol

I liked the first Freddy movie, but the one that scared me the most is the original Night of the Living Dead, followed by Omen.

are you serious?
in the book he used a mallet, in the movie he used an ax
you think a mallet is scarier than an ax?
i honestly think people just think it's cool or more sophisticated to say "the book was better"
besides they made a made for tv movie that was almost identical to the book and it wasn't close to kubrick's version
my favorite horror movie is Kubrick's "the shining" :)

I just perfered the book, it has nothing to do with trying to sound more sophisticated. There were many parts left out of the book that I enjoyed that didn't make it onto the screen. You got into his head much more and the insanity. When he thinks about twisting off his wifes tit, cause he's getting pissed off with her. The lions in the park chasing him. A deeper history of the hotel. And yeah, I thought the croquet mallet was a great weapon and I think it sucks that the black pyschic guy died in the movie, when in the book, it is him that thinks about killing the family after the father dies.
I'll have to try and find that other movie your talking about and compare it.

The Hills have Eyes was good.

The Grudge...or
Saw 2...or
The Omen...or

Hard to choose just one.
