I have often wondered why it is, when women hit 35 they start getting short haircuts.
It does nothing for their looks.... it makes them look older imo. And like a lesbian :-X
All women seem to do it though, why is that?

I have often wondered that myself. I have never liked short hair on women period. Makes them look like boys IMO. Long hair is the way to go.

A) their married they figure they no longer have to attract men
B) "i have kids i don't have time to be fussing with my hair"! (see A above)
C) "it's so much easier i just get up and go"! ( again see A above)
finally the second their husband cheats on them or they get divorced they start "growing it out"
it's like the women (and men) who "let themselves go" during marriage (then wanna lose weight/have long hair once they break up)
Moral: keep yourselves attractive to your mate ladies!................it matters to us!
even tho we love you/we don't want a fat, short haired - KD Lange look alike~!!!

I think sometimes the weight loss is somewhat involuntary because the person feels so devastated. I have a girlfriend that lost 35 pounds when her boyfriend broke up w/her. She just couldn't eat much. The eventually got married and she gain the weight back.

According to a book I read one of the 5 top needs that a man has is an attractive spouse. Although some could be offended by the book from what I remember it's really pretty good.

i believe it seriously............... man is a very "visual creature"!

I don’t buy that. For one thing what one man finds attractive another may find repulsive. Sure, everyone wants a spouse that he finds attractive but the definition of “attractive” can vary greatly. Having a cover girl (or guy) may be very important to you but it is not important to everyone. I have been with some of the most stereotypically attractive guys in the world, but none of them are what I would consider relationship material.
Some people are motivated and drawn to things that are less superficial such as intellect or shared values. Others are attracted to practical things like income.
One’s taste can also change dramatically over time. We have all acquired a taste for foods we once hated. It is possible to experience this with people as well. What you find attractive today may not be what you find attractive tomorrow. So, no, not ever man needs an "attractive" spouse.
As for women cutting their hair as they get older: when they are very young girls long hair is one of the things that define a girl as female. This is especially true in the West. As a woman gets older and older she has other things to define her femininity: body, make up, clothes, etc. No more "need" for long hair. See, A, B, and C above...
-
I've been told I need to cut my hair [its waist length] as I was "too old" to have long hair at 30 - by a couple of western women [not rudely, in convo]. Strange thing to me, as here we basically all grow, grow, grow our hair - short hair is very rare here. I am not a fan of short hair 75% of the time frankly, but some females really work it - like Halle, Jada Pinkett, Natalie Benson etc.

I agree w/all of this ....the book is saying men (most men I guess) want a spouse that is attractive ....to them.

And this is the element of relationships (more so than in other things in life) that appears to render them simply sisyphean labour in the truest sense of the word. One day things are fine and the next day it's over, quite literally within the span of a day. One has to question the investment of time in such things given the fact that they rarely bear fruit.
On the other hand, based on personal observation homosexual relationships seem to be more stable, perhaps because gay men and women have much more to lose given the more limited demographic. By analogy the heterosexual person can visit an uncountable number of boutiques and shops, the gay person may be more limited to the one or two.

Agreed. I cannot count the number of female friends that say some guy is the next coming one week, then two weeks later think he's the biggest piece of shit in the universe. Funny thing is.... nothing with the guy changed, except that in most circumstances the woman found another 'favor of the week' that she fancies.

You are spot on with your 3 points Mike. It is the same reason men stop shaving their back hair after they get married. ;D
-
this only happens in western society where the women are big boned and drink beer.

Most of the time when men 'let themselves go' they just drop out of the gym and get blubbery fat. This frequently corresponds with many of them withdrawing from social activities and athletic endeavors.

It depends on the woman....Some ladies want to change their style, and some just feel that a shorter haircut looks better when they are older. I don't think there is a specific rule. I have seen some ladies over 35 with long hair that looked great, others like hell.... Its the same with guys. P.S. some lesbians have long hair..... :-X

I have had long hair my whole life except for a brief stint in grade school with an unfortunate "bowl" cut. ::) Since then it has never been shorter than 1/2 way down my back and is usually close to waist length. I personally could never have a short haircut, it wouldn't suit me at all. :P I have been stopped before and had my hair commented on and how nice it was see a woman with longer hair. :D

I think a lot has to do with what ever style is in fashion (for those who are younger) and also convenience. You guys whine about wanting your girl to have the long hair and whatnot, but don't realize the time it takes to wash/dry/style it. You jump out of the shower and gel or quickly blow dry your hair (5 minutes) and poof you're good to go. Blow drying and styling (for me this includes straightening as my hair is curly) takes about 45 minutes. It can be a royal pain in the ass. >:( Mike will always say "I like it when you wear your hair down and straight" (cuz I wear it pulled into a ponytail a lot or just leave it curly-so damn humid sometimes down here that even if I press it straight...it starts curling the second I'm outside, lol) but he just doesn't realize how much time goes into it but I do my best to make him happy. ;D

Ooooh hun I can sooooo relate!
Reminds me of the time an old friend wanted to go for lunch to this great restaurant out in Orangeville.
He was all excited too, ...cause the weather had turned and he got to take his convertible Alfa Romeo out of storage.
After spending close to an hour with the blow dryer and the hot rollers etc, you can just imagine how thrilled I was to have the top down and the wind whipping through my hair at 90 kms/ hr. for 2 hours.

Totally different styling challenges, that's why.

I'm confused. She stated she spent close to an hour blow drying and using hot rollers. You stated that you thought she was black. Did you think only white women use blow dryers and hot rollers?

Well, I guess I thought a black women faces different challenges because of the hair texture and form.

Not entirely. Some love their hair natural and can wash and go in 5 minutes, others have their hair straightened and put a lot of time in styling (such as Judi) such as blowing it out and putting in hot rollers like a lot of white women. :)

A Black woman's hair can come in all different styles & textures.
In my case, the curl is relaxed, and I wear my hair long.

My former workout partner is black. She sometimes would call that she'd be late because she was fixing her daughter's hair. I was like, "just put it in a pony tail or something!" And she said, "girl, you just don't understand the drama black hair can cause." One day she explained it to me - I don't really remember the details - but I never rushed her again.
There is a black female reporter on Fox News that does celebrity reporting as a guest and I think her hair is gorgeous...she is gorgeous... I don't know her name but I wonder if her hair takes a lot of time to do or if it's easy...it's kind of like a loose fro. I can't find a pic of her online w/o her name. I'll try to listen next time I see her.
