The Italian edition of Vanity Fair said that it had found George Hussein Onyango Obama living in a hut in a ramshackle town of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi.
Mr Obama, 26, the youngest of the presidential candidate's half-brothers, spoke for the first time about his life, which could not be more different than that of the Democratic contender.
"No-one knows who I am," he told the magazine, before claiming: "I live here on less than a dollar a month."
According to Italy's Vanity Fair his two metre by three metre shack is decorated with football posters of the Italian football giants AC Milan and Inter, as well as a calendar showing exotic beaches of the world.
Vanity Fair also noted that he had a front page newspaper picture of his famous brother - born of the same father as him, Barack Hussein Obama, but to a different mother, named only as Jael.
He told the magazine: "I live like a recluse, no-one knows I exist."
Embarrassed by his penury, he said that he does not does not mention his famous half-brother in conversation.
"If anyone says something about my surname, I say we are not related. I am ashamed," he said.
For ten years George Obama lived rough. However he now hopes to try to sort his life out by starting a course at a local technical college.
He has only met his famous older brother twice - once when he was just five and the last time in 2006 when Senator Obama was on a tour of East Africa and visited Nairobi.
The Illinois senator mentions his brother in his autobiography, describing him in just one passing paragraph as a "beautiful boy with a rounded head".
Of their second meeting, George Obama said: "It was very brief, we spoke for just a few minutes. It was like meeting a complete stranger."
George added he was no longer in contact with his mother and said:"I have had to learn to live and take what I need.
"Huruma is a tough place, last January during the elections there was rioting and six people were hacked to death. The police don't even arrest you they just shoot you.
"I have seen two of my friends killed. I have scars from defending myself with my fists. I am good with my fists."

Issues are making the difference, people are finding out more about Obama and his political history, McCain also did extremely well at Saddleback. I don't believe the negative ads are that significant.

His best friend during his college years was living in a car. I think he developed a drug problem, very smart guy though. Obama said he was going to offer him a job, but never have heard anything else on the matter.
I think this matter should be left alone. Best thing that can be done in this situation is maybe Obama can collect some donations, and his brother can open up a charity or something ; family is family, get him on his feet and hope he starts running.

i dont think it was all that actually...He shot from the hip and said a lot of easy answers that would rile up the audience who was his base anyway..He could have said "and yes i eat shit everyday" and everyone would have clapped..
On the question about evil existing he answered "defeat it" ...well no shit..but there needs to be a definition of winning which still isnt clear in iraq...but when he answers quickly "defeat it" people are all like "YEAH MCCAIN IS SO STRONG ON OUR DEFENSE" ...i just dont see it...
Obama is a better thinker and will look at all options and possible outcomes before making a decision..

Obama is a thinker, I agree...but more of an academic...a good leader is someone who can make good decisions quickly based on experience and give straight answers...ie, Donald Trump. I'm with you mal, I'm not crazy about either of them.

I pay my 6-year old niece's health insurance and college fund, buy all her clothes and school supplies, etc... because my sister's MS is bad. yes, you take care of family sometimes.
I have a half-brother who I haven't seen in years. He's on drugs and went to prison for stabbing a man in the head and throwing him off a 30 foot tall bridge overpass into a frozen river. Somehow the dude lived, so my brother only got 5 years instead of life for murder.
He's a junkie POS up north and I don't take his calls. If he came to my door, I'd release the hounds. He's a stranger to me, and I'll never talk to him again, hopefully.
There is a difference. You help family who is worthy, and sometimes it's okay to stay away from family members who are bums.

If it turns out Obama's been sending the guys a monthly check, then it comes out this guy was attending jihadist rallies... well, your dem candidate has just been sending $ to support terrorism, ya know?
ANY way people can connect him to bad things, they have been. Sending $ to the guy - even if he is family - would give Mccain the ability to say "My opponent wired $20,000 to terrorist operatives in Africa".
Plus, record show Obama is worth somewhere between 500k and less than 2 mil. He's not rich by any means, much less Mccain's $5 mil cutoff.

There are many possibilities why B.O. doesn't "take care" of his brother. I had a drug addict friend that I tried to help. She was an expert liar and manipulator and although I wish her well I won't help her financially or write any more letters to a judge for her.
In her case, it seemed she needed to exhaust all of her "help" resources before she decided to clean herself up on her own.
I'm not saying B.O's brother is a drug addict...I'm just saying there could be good reasons of which we may not be aware why B.O. may not be responding to the situation.

I don't know about this. Don't know the whole story. Sometimes people are beyond help. You can't just throw money at someone who isn't responsible enough to handle it. I don't think it's fair to criticize Obama over his brother's situation, unless Obama directly contributed to it.
