Title: cardio question
Post by: NaturalWonder83 on August 20, 2008, 05:29:23 PM
Hey guys
ive brought cardio back into my workouts since my leg is feeling better after my dislocated patella tendon!

now here is my question

on jay cutler videos i see him holding onto cardio equipment handles
yet when i talk to personal trainers at the fitness center i go to they tell me not to hold onto handles

is it really big of a deal to hold onto treadmill or eliptical...or should i not? and if so, why?

thanks

I do cardio for an hour a day and I never hold onto the handles , I actually play PS3 on the threadmill it breaks up the time

Don't hold onto the handles.  You don't hold onto anything when you walk/run naturally, so there should be no need to do it on the treadmill.

You shouldn't hold on to the handles.  Jay can because he is the most muscular man in the world.

You don't usually do cardio for leg work.  It gets hit, but it's not the goal.

IMO as long as the heart rate is where it should be, who cares.  I don't use them, as it allows me to use a lower incline and slower pace to achieve the same sustained heart rate.

The only cardio equipment I hold on to, some times, is on the elliptical.
