Antonio Silva and Edwin Dewees have failed drug tests following their July fights in California, the California State Athletic Commission announced Thursday.
Silva, who won the EliteXC heavyweight championship on July 26 with his win over Justin Eilers, tested positive for the anabolic steroid Boldenone. The commission suspended him for one year and fined him $2,500.
Dewees was positive for the anabolic steroid Nandrolone at a test level of 499 ng/mL. He was stopped in the first round by Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at Affliction’s debut show July 19 in Anaheim. The commission also fined Dewees $2,500 and suspended him one year.
In addition, the CSAC suspended William Jacobson indefinitely for failing to take his scheduled test for drugs of abuse after his Aug. 15 TKO loss to David Douglas on the ShoXC “Elite Challenger Series” in Friant, Calif. Jacobson, who was making his professional debut, lasted just 72 seconds.

In the second round he tore through Eilers. Damnit. Eilers is one of my pretty good bros from high school. I watched him fight in March at an IFC show. He looked really good, and wound up with the belt. Got a lot of respect for that dude. Really cool guy.

Why on earth these idiots take drugs that last for so long is beyond comprehension! They deserve to be banned for life! Fucking morons!

you gotta figure that anyone that juices before a fight is doing so because they're pretty sure they're in over their head if they don't...
I mean that's generally the way I look at it

Actually they are taken for recovery from training.
Some just haven't learned to mask.
Case in point.........

could boldenone or nandralone be very easily masked

EQ (boldenone) can be detected fpr up to a year and a half and is mainly used as a supplement drug to a testosterone ester. It increases appetite and the synthesis of protein to muscle. Not a good drug to take if you are going to be tested.
Deca (nandrolone), for some reason, is what I keep reading a lot of these guys are getting popped for. It is not directly detectable, but what it metabolizes into is.

I thought nandrolone was the substance that stays around in your system for like a year and a half?? Did not know boldenone did also.... I thought it was only detectable up to 5 months... Well I guess you learn something new everyday. Either way if these athletes are going to use they should learn what those times are.
I am always sketchy when I hear someone has been popped for Deca due to the fact there has been a lot of false positive readings and I have read some research that says athletes have higher then average levels in there body.

Both drugs stay in your system detectable for over a year. There can theoretically be false positives for deca, because it can occur naturally in the body, but in minute doses, say around .04ng/ml. But what they actually test for now is a metabolite of the steroid, not the actual substance itself. You hear of guys like Sherk getting popped, but then testing negative a week later, and all it means is the masking agent their trainer gave them was working better or hadn't wore off yet.
