this may be a little long winded, but here me out. at the age of 51, i have been lifting for 32 years. i started at age 18, and of course, didn't no shit about lifting for a few years. i am now, at age 51, 5/11 and 250 pounds of drug free muscle. I'm in the gym 5 days a week, lifting heavy weights. i have a few videos on utube, to back up my claims. i still hit my head on my pillow each night, and my last thought is how I'm going to set up my workout for the next day. I'm still like that 18 year old kid, still excited about going to the gym. i spend money on supplements, magazines, straps, chalk,. neck harness, etc. i will be at the Olympia convention next month, getting my yearly supply of t-shirts. at 51, with a shaven head, and looking solid, people will be noticing me.
my question is this. of course i was never a bodybuilding champion. i was in one bodybuilding contest in 1978, i came in last place. i have never made a dime off bodybuilding
BUT IM STILL IN THE FU@@ING GAME!!!!!!!!!!!
when i saw the pictures of berry demay, weighting about 180, i said wtf.
when i saw the pictures of Rory lidemeyer, i said wtf.
Arron baker-
Eddie robbinson-
tom prince- we know what happened to him.
Craig titus-dont need to say anything
what do you think troy zukealoto looks like now, phil hill? shawn ray? mike Christan? flex wheeler? Rico?
I'm not knocking these guys, but I'm saying, I'm still here, banging away, day in day out.
how about the mighty mike Quinn? probally about 170 pounds. the barbarian brothers, give me a break.
I'm thinking that no, i never had a magazine cover, i never met Joe Weider, never lifted at golds in the prime years. but i have been at the same job for over 25 years. i will have a good retirement when I'm 56, and guess what? i will still be going to the gym 5 days a week, lifting as heavy as i can.
I'm not trying to bust anybodies balls. but I'm thinking, i have had the better career. (look for me at the Olympia next month, i will be the big guy drinking rolling rocks from the back seat of my car) judo

Maybe but I once met George Forman he told me (while limping and with scar tissue on his face)never worry about effects you will face from giving your all. Yeah I bet Lee Haney, Yates, as well as otehr athletes Aikman, Montana all have ill effects from trying to be the best they can be. Drug use has SOME to do with it but so is .....hard training, and just simply giving that little extra..those fearing the future avoid. The word "better off" is made up by those giving self praise to whatever they've never accomplished.

i think the drugs make up most of the problems later in life.
