Hello all,

I am trying to get a diet sorted for BULKING up.

Should i try to eat as many small meals as possible during the day?
Or would it be better to have 3 Large meals

I don't want to get real fat

Why get fat at all?

What level is your training at? How big are you now? How efficient is your daily life?

Just throw in a few tins of tuna here and there on top of what you're currently doing. Get some whole grain cereal.

No major changes, you can get on with your life etc. without living around some sad and ridiculous nutritional regime.

All in all true = laws of the universe.

Depending on the calories will make a big difference tho.

Too many people eat absolute shite when trying to gain wait thinking it's muscle they're adding... ::)

Traditional bodybuilding wisdom is about 6 small meals spaced about 3 hours apart. based around animal proteins and complex starchy carbs.

however, recently there is some conflicting wisdom. Layne norton is a big advocate of bigger more spaced out feedings. this is to maximize protein synthesis.  and a recent study i read showed that dieters who ate 3 meals per day compared to dieters who ate 6 meals per day (equal calories and macro % ) ..the 3 meal per day group lost more weight.

however, i don't think that is in itself enough information to warrant complete abandonment of the 6 meal per day/every three hours rule of thumb.  but i do see it as an OKAY to not worry about it if you go 5 hours without eating sometime in the future. just don't make a habit of it.

Eat when you're hungry, protein in every meal.

Meal composition depends on you.  Experiment and see what works but make healthy choices in general.

Don't mistake fat for muscle.

I think Layne is on to something here, just look at the guys he trains.

I think 4 large meals a day and a shake post workout would be a good start!.

Eat clean carbs only and if your trying to bulk have a few cheat meals per week. But try to eat clean 90% of the time.

Its not rocket science, just eat alot of good food.

easiest way is to have 3-4 meals a day every day. 75-100g protein each meal.

plus a choc milk before workouts, and straight after workouts either another choc milk or protein shake, then normal meal an hour later.

this will put quality muscle size on you quite rapidly. if your geting fat, reduce the amount of fat you are eating daily. if you are still looking chubby, reduce carbs also.

never reduce protein intake.

simple, and effective.  8)

i just read an article in our newspaper this past sunday that eating smaller meals more often isn't really necessary anymore for sufficient nutrition. i have no idea why, but i don't often believe all that i read either!
