Props to MMAMania.com for the this find. WAMMA Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko gives his thoughts on EliteXC Heavyweight Kimbo Slice:
“As an athlete, I think he’s got a lot more work to do. I think he’s got to have a lot more fights and really boost his competition and the quality of the opponents he fights. As a person and a personality for the sport, he’s got a great PR company. He’s done something that many fighters have taken many years to achieve and haven’t been able to achieve, and he’s done it in a very short period of time. So if he’s able to combine that with his physical strength and learn some more technique and maybe getting some more experience, then maybe he would get to a level of popularity that could transcend the sport.”

Such class. You never hear hear him say anything bad about anyone, and always finds qualities thet deserve recognition. Only afew guys do this anymore, Florian, GSP, Silva. Then you got guys like BJ that just love to talk shit, and it's hard to respect.

BJ's shit talking is all in good fun. Look at how he treated Jens after the last win... He is a classy guy at the end of the day. fedor is one classy fella though. lots of guys rubberneck about him and he never stoops to their level.
-
Yeah, but he treated some of the guys on the Ultimate fighter with blatant disrespect. I was a big BJ fan until I watched the show. You could tell that he has a VERY big ego and it gets the best of him. Like with GSP's last fight...he just hopped into the ring like it was a WWE fight and was challenging GSP, when it was obvious that GSP just wanted to savor the moment of defeating Fitch. GSP seemed irritated by BJ.

BAH! BJ is the fucking man. 8)
As far as Fedor...a total class act. Much respect for him.

I think there is a difference in doing classy things when they are expected when they are the percieved right thing to do and being a person with class. Anyone can act like they have manners when they are supposed to. The GSP fight was brought up, and I think it is a great point. Does anyone think that GSP would have ever thought it appropriate to hop in the ring after a BJ fight and demand a fight? Hell no. BJ only acts classy when it benefits him to do so. Fedor, on the other hand, is pure manners and respect for everyone else. Huge difference.

You can't honestly tell me that you don't think that Dana "Mcmahan" white didn't have something to do with that?

;D
Very possibly. But to me ot wouldn't make sense for Dana to hype up a GSP BJ fight just yet, when there are still fights for both in their division. Unless his goal was to try for the beginnings of a "feud" that could be sustained for a little while, what other motivaton would he have?

Really have you seen what BJ for the community and the things he has done for many other charities and causes. How many fighters have gone to IRAQ and spoke to the troops and inspired them, or go to hospitals and help others. BJ is far from having a big ego. Don't confuse confidence with ego. He talks to everyone and goes out of his way too. It is unreal how many people came in everyday from other states and countries just to see BJ. A little hole in the wall gym in a little town and 30 to 60 people a day came in. There is a book people could write notes to BJ when he wasn't there and he would answer as many as possible. Any shit you see on TV he does to promote the fight. He even said one time.

I remember after his match with Sherk - BJ told him to come down to Hawaii and train with him anytime. BJ does use WWE style tactics to generate interest for his matches.
I hope he plans to avenge his loss to matt hughes. I'm sick of hearing the hughes nuthuggers bash BJ. I guess they forgot that their boy already lost the first encounter.
-
Cmon lets not play dumb here, BJ has an ego but lets face it so has everyone who steps in that octagon, cage or ring its just some show it more than others. I personally can imagine BJ being a bit of an egomaniac in real life as well as the amped up version you see on TV to sell PPV/seats but thats what makes him the fighter he is today.
To say the guy aint got an ego is being naieve despite all the good work he may do.

"I wuz not imprezzed with your performance."
-
the dude is the best. he doesn't have to talk down on others..he has nothing to prove. i like him
-
Fedor catches his opponents by the balls with this kind of speech... they get too cocky... But deep inside Fedor knows that Kimbo doesn't have what it takes to become a class act...
-
Fedor is the epitome of an old school martial artist.
He gets the job done and has no ill feeling towards his opponent- before or afterwards.
The"last emperor" title is in good hands since he represents the dying era of a humble martial artist.
Ancient chinese proverb
The wise man always walks with his head bowed low - humble as the dust despite the immense strength of character.
