I placed 6th in the under 202 class in Tampa I was happy with my condition but to tell the truth I didn't understand the placings so I was disappointed. And one week later I placed 11th in Dallas (Europa Super Show). In the Open I didn't make the top15 in Tampa and I placed 15th in Dallas.
But now I'm looking forward and try to be much better in 2009. And hopefully I'll earn better placings too.
Here're some pics and videos...

I dunno who beat you bro, but you should be top 3 in ANY 202 & under line up!! SERIOUSLY
-
I don't know how you didn't place better. You looked great! But, then again, we know this sport is political and not always objective. Good luck next year!

Fantastic conditioning.

When you think Labrada was 2 in the world a few years back, you should have walked the WHOLE show
The competition side of the sports sucks...

Ive been in this game a long time and the show should have been between you and Henry. You edge him on symmetry and aesthetics and seem equal on everything else. You were shafted.
I congratulate you on your attitude though. Good luck next year but DON'T go for MASS MASS MASS
-
How the fuck did Flex Lewis get 2nd with his puny upper body?????!!!!!!!
-
I said all along u have a heck of a build, that top 6 was stacked and all peaked right on condition, name recognition will help a bit, your time will come, just don't blow that look u have out of proportion to get bigger.your real good .

Thank you for the positive critcism!
Anyway I just wanted the 5th place in Tampa to qualify to the 202 Showdown at the Olympia...but the judges didn't give me the chance... :-\
But now I'm already looking forward to 2009...

AGREED. Serious Steve, contact Labrada and ask for his advice or Gaspari - I'll PM you his personal Email address

All political. He lost because some of those guys have bigger name sponsors, while the rest have "paid their dues". You should be climbing the ladder very soon Steve. You were without a doubt shafted, but you cant change that now. Just move forward, market yourself, hopefully land a good sponsor and keep working hard. I hate to say it, but if you land the right sponsor you will start to place better.....
-
wow absolutely impressive! Maybe your association with milos....

Most non-American pros always place lower at the contests held in US ::)
-
I dig your wheels kid. Keep up the good work! :)

Agree
Remember that the bigger bb supplements markets will be in Asia and Europe........
-
You looked great dude, what did you weigh for these shows?

Yes, you're right. This is one of the "problems"...

True. But my time will come...

Thanks!
I was 198 lbs.

Work on improving your entire backside and you'll do good next year.

True!

I would have to say having competed and watched many shows since the late 70's (when I was a teenager), you have excellent shape, symmettry, conditioning and you hit the poses well..not awkwardly like most of these guys. I would be dissapointed as well, but you seem to have a good attitude. Good luck next time out.
-
Not to add fuel to the fire, but you got a really bad call. Sorry man...guess it's all on who you know and who you blow! But I would take 6th knowing I wasn't a c*cksuker! Great job! ;)

Steve i was at Tampa and thought you placed higher, you were out classed by Dave Henry and Flex Lewis most definitely from behind as you were soft, as Shawn Ray said you need to keep your waist in check, stop the Milos insulin Diet as your skin is ageing you look old in the face and your getting thicker around the waist, this can be reversed though look at Hide.
You hold your own in single poses but when placed next to the top 3 you were easly beat, in Dallas and Tampa its very evidential, you pose well and can hide these faults.
Now one last thing----- DONT POST ANYMORE POST ABOUT I SHOULD OF PLACED HIGHER, people are behind you but your also starting to piss people off, the show was a month ago, get back to the grind stone and train for 2009 you have started many threads on many different boards MOANING about the same thing.
Being a judge myself you wouldn't of placed top 3 in any of the shows but should of places in top 5 i agree at least in Dallas, Proving Bob Chicks theory right about cross overs, as you placed high in open than 202.
Good luck in 2009 train hard and smart and listen to the people have given you advice.
-
you look great dude. balanced. some of the best legs. small waist.
but no need to post 3443533 pictures. the first 5 was enough.

Thank you everybody for the comments and opinions!

Yes I would aggree, work on the back, especially your lats.
-
in my opinion you are better than flex lewis
-
Who cares where you placed, you look incredible.
-
As I told you already Steve, you looked great and I like the rest of these posts also don't know why you didn't end up in top 5 or at least left George Farah behind you...
-
I'm British but I'd have placed you above Flex. He didn't carry enough upper body mass in my opinion to place that high. Keep up the great work and do whatever you can to increase your profile in the States.
-
Ok, I've taken some time to compare all the 10 mandatory comparidons, and Steve, I've got you in 3rd or 4th, behind Henry, Flex and the black guy. You beat some of them on some poses and they beat you in turn, but it was really close. I'd of liked to have seen the 2 other guys who placed ahead of you, but I'm sure they weren't much better than yourself.
Some minor improvements to make if you want to beat the likes of Henry and Lewis are thicker lats, thicker chest, and slightly bigger arms. Everything else you're pretty much right with. I like the classic look you bring and your front double biceps pose is very reminiscent of Arnold. ;)
-
He Steve, your physique is truly exceptional and I mean that literally as well as figuratively. You only need more recognition (hype) within the industry to place better. That may sound cynical but it is the reality of the pro circuit these days. the pictures clearly show you to be top 3 material, that is not in question, only that you are not as publicised as the placegetters above. I think most guys would rather aspire to the look you are presenting than probably anyone else out there at the moment so your potential to mainstream your image and thus better your placings seems a very definite possibility. I watched the show online with a previous IFBB Olympia judge (1979-84) and we had you in 2nd in the under 202's and 5th or 6th overall. Maintain your current attitude as it is your best asset, regards Leon.
-
Steve, the judging was pathetic. You should have placed much higher. Keep doing what you're doing. The judges will not be able to ignore you next time. Best of luck!!!
-
Wow, I didn't even see these last posts. Thank you very much for everybody! 8)
Yes, next year is here...I'll trying to do everything I can to be better this year and hopefully finally I'll get some recognition.
I'm looking forward.
