Title: Sen. McCain's Speech Tonight
Post by: Colossus_500 on September 04, 2008, 08:17:52 PM
No flair in his delivery (rhythm of his speech was off frequently), but the content of the Senator's speech tonight was more robust than any of the 4 candidates' thus far.  I believe he will get a tremedously huge bounce from the convention this week.  Excellent speech.  I'm most greatful that he was the only candidate who felt no shame in acknowledging that God is the core of his strength.  I really didn't know John McCain until tonight.  I feel like I have a much better viewpoint, and no longer see him as I did before.

Will be interesting to see how the polls play out over the next couple of weeks.

Great post, I agree with you.

Man, it was great how he started off somber and relaxed, then went into talking points, afterwards laying out the differences between Obama and himself, the climax at the end, was awesome.

I specifically appreciated him addressing the issue of the Republican party losing its way with the voters by saying that it had lost the trust of the people, and then accepting the challenge to rectify that situation.  "We're going to get back to the basics."

What's more, tonight John McCain showed that he has more class than Barack Obama could ever have.  And I think Obama has showed some class, but his arrogance grossly overshadows it.  Obama is proving to look more and more like the very Washington-like mindset that he claims he wants to change.

Great analysis Colossus.  I agree with you.  I thought he had a rough start, and hecklers didn't help, but he finished strong.  He sounded like a president.  Loved his war story.  I've read about it, etc., but never heard him tell the whole story.  Gave me chicken skin.  The man has character.  I'm really starting to like him (especially after his Palin selection).

It wasn't great (but not bad) but it was to the point. But then again this is not his venue. BUT, if you put him in a townhall.....well lets just say there's a reason why Obama turned down more than 10 townhall invitations by McCain.

Thanks, Beach.  That war story was very moving.  I had goose-bumps too.  You're dead on when you say he is a man of character.  A class act.

Yep.

McCain's class-act disposition is going to make Obama looked really bad if he continues to turn down the townhall invititations.  McCain's camp is doing some brilliant work right now.  Brilliant!

Do you think that Carl Rove might have a hand in this?

Not sure.  If it's not Carl Rove, then the Republican party has a new "architect".  They've brought their A game this past month.
