Giants looked ok last night.they shoulda scored alot more points :-\
Plaxico had 133 yards receiving and Brandon Jacobs had 116 rushing and they only score 16 points.
Giants defense was good but the Redskins offence and time management has a looooong way to go.

Hey, first regular season game, I can only see them getting better. If I remember correctly, usually the previous Superbowl winners have rough starts the following season. Hopefully this isn't the case.
On a side note, I'm glad to Curt Warner win the starting QB over pompous Linert. Warner had always been a huge favorite of mine.
-
Giants looked good.....now its time to start counting down the days until Plex, Jacobs and one of the lb's gets hurt ( and it nags them for the season).
-
Giants did what they needed to do... Definitely a playoff team.
Coach, as far as your Curt Warner QB spot... While I do like him, I can't imagine what he did during the preseason to make Leinart sit... How many games before Warner is back on the bench?
Over / Under on 5?

IMO, Leinert looked like crap last year and extra curricular activities might have carried into the pre-season. Leinert's full of himself, I'm not a fan at all.
Man I hope your wrong, I would love too see Warner make a big comeback with a full season.

He did look bad... but no worse than Warner... Leinert is full of himself, but what young starting QB talent isn't?
I think he has all the tools, he's just in a bad spot in Arizone and having to fight against a former superbowl winner.
I like them both.
The biggest QB shock for me is still Brady Quinn riding the bench in Cleveland... But, The Browns have a decent thing going, so I can understand not wanting to screw it up.

eli looked pretty shakey im my opinion, he should have been intercepted 3 or 4 more times than just the one.

Maybe he plays a little better under pressure... This season will definitely say a lot about his long term NFL future.

Warner's a class act, we were lucky enough to have him here in STL for a few great years, even though he's in AZ he still comes back here and helps out charities in the community, great guy.

I've already had enough injuries on that team for the whole season.

seen a couple of "experts" on ESPN predicting a Jaguars/Vikings Super Bowl. ::)
-
Warner got screwed in Arizona under Denny Green. My wife worked with Greens nephew and he said his uncle thought that Warner lacked guts. ::) But whenever Warner was put in he put up big numbers. He lacked an offensive line in st. louis. My problem with him is he doesn't scramble or even try to run out of a jam. Great person though. Helluva passer.

I saw that too......I don't agree.

that 99 season will remain one of the best ever for a QB, 43 TD's, 13 INT, 107.5 QB rating for the season, 4300 yards passing, over 500 points scored on the season, regular season MVP, Super Bowl MVP, insane.

This will kill him with the crappy line that Arizona always has.

yep. And 2 years later they couldn't wait to get rid of him. I would rather have Warner than Bulger right now. One thing that has been totally lost is the catch on the fly passes Warner executed. Yeah those were good times in 99-2000. It's a shame we'll be waiting for another 10 years.

if the team is even here at all, yeah i just don't understand giving that skinny twat Bulger 66 million bucks, what were they thinking, they had the PERFECT chance to get Jay Cutler a couple of years ago and went with this fucckin' worthless Tye Hill who hasn't done shit, i'm predicting either 6-10 or 7-9 for the Lambs this year and Linehan will be gone and probably won't get another head coaching job again.

you gotta youtube Brandon Jacobs running over the Washington safety Landry.he runs like Earl Cambell used to run :D

Rams are next ;)
the Rams are fuccking terrible, it's like they're throwing the season to get Linehan fired, Linehan is such a fuccking Lame-O, no personality, no fire, no nothing, they way these guys are playing is a disgrace to the NFL, i HONESTLY think there are some top college teams who could beat them right now.
-
i'm honestly at the point where i wish the Giants would physically hurt some Rams players, they're my hometown team but i can't stand them, Steven Jackson and Torry Holt were laughing, joking and high fiving the Eagles after getting destroyed 38-3, sickening.
-

Haha,damn,ouch!
the toughest player on the Giants might play offense-Brandon Jacobs.

Rams gave em a game for a half then it was down hill.they couldn't stop the Giants O when they needed to on that 97 yard drive.
Plaxico,3 good running backs, and Eli.plus a defense that just loves to hit.
I think the Rams have played 2 of the best teams in the NFL to start the year.
I know I'm a homer, but if Justin Tuck stays healthy he might end up being the NFL's defensive player of the year.

I don't this is a homeristic viewpoint at all. He's getting more recognition by the week.

Everyone knows it... That's why Broncos fans didn't run their mouths on Monday morning.

That was just wrong. Did you hear Shanahan trying to downplay the significance of the blown call?
-

That's why Shanahan needs a reality check sometimes. That puts SD at the bottom and Denver at the top of the AFC west... I don't believe it will stay that way.

You think SD wins it? It's really a two-horse race between SD and Denver. I think either one can win it.

I think over the course of the season, as LT gets his groove back and the San Diego Defense gets used to being without Merriman things turn around completely for San Diego. I'm still saying they win the division... probably going 11-5.

Can't really argue with you. They still have Gates too. Chambers and Jackson look good at WR. Rivers is a good QB.
On the other hand, if Cutler continues to play lights out and Marshall continues to play like Jerry Rice, Denver could make a run in the AFC. They also have arguably the best corner tandem in the NFL.

True enough.
I think this is going to be an interesting year in the AFC west.

Carolina is playing well.
Denver looks good.Cutler sure looks like a helluva QB!
and how about Atlanta and the Dolphins showing some spark.

Oh and I forgot,
Eli is the better Manning at QB :D

I've actually been saying this for a couple of years now.

Holy crap.some wild endings yesterday.
man I thought the Cardinals blew it when they called the timeout when they blocked the field goal :o
-
I think it's time the coaches stop trying to ice the kicker.it has almost backfired twice so far this year.
...Earl it should be a good game Sunday ;)

Does L. Tollison still play football or just do commercials ???
Justin Tuck is a fuckng beast!

The Titans the class of the NFL? Even though they are always a well coached team, I didn't see that one coming, especially with Collins at QB. Great running game. Great D.
After looking like world beaters, the Broncos are now entering KC territory. They had 14 yards rushing today against the Dolphins. :o
Same for the Cowboys. Looked like Super Bowl contenders and are now in last place in the NFC East. How sweet it is. :)
Belichick doesn't look like much of a genius without Tom Brady. Sort of like his days in Cleveland.
-
I was thinking back to when I saw the Steelers schedule at the beginning of the year, and how the stretch they're in now seemed to be absolutely brutal.
Now, after seeing half a season of Indy, NE, Dallas, and SD, it doesn't seem so hopeless.
The Giants and Titans seem to be the class of the NFL. It doesn't feel like there's many powerhouses out there right now.

I know! They are only 5-3 with a qb who has not played since highschool. They could be like Dallas and fall apart when there starting qb goes down, but they stay competitive ;D I am amazed at how well the pats are doing considering they lost the best qb in the game, they have injuries up the wazoo and they have a QB who had not played a game since hs!

Naw,you just gotta know where to look.Atlanta,Miami,Baltimore playing better than expected.
Dallas and Jackonsville hit with injuries and struggling.
some good stuff going on.

I agree... They're still a solid team, but heaven help Bellechick without Brady... He looks frazzled.

I don't think leading his team to a 5-3 record with all the injuries and the loss of Brady is anything to scoff at. Dungy is .400 and he didn't lose Manning. We have a qb starting who is basically a rookie, but he is getting better every week. Belichick is doing an amazing job. Think about this: No Brady, Maroney is on ir, Harrison is on ir, a secondary made up of rookies, a qb who is basically a rookie and a rash of injuries to many starters. 5-3 is beyond awesome right now.

Belichik may have the personality of a rock but he knows how to coach.
Hahaha, last week the local papers wrote that 2 of the best coaches went against eachother,Tomlin vs Coughlin while 2 of the worst went against eachother,Edwards vs Mangini :D

Its not the softest schedule nor did they choose it. An NFL schedule You can try to take away from it all you want, but the pats being 5-3 is nothing short of a miracle. They lost there starting rb's 1-3, have rookies playing in the secondary, a rash of injuries on the offensive line and they lost the best QB in the game.

Just because they didn't choose it doesn't mean it isn't soft. I'm not making this up, I saw it on ESPN in a schedule ranking system.
It's not that impressive to me because the Pats have a great team, and it just not at the QB position. I thought they had the division wrapped up, and possibly only 1-2 loss season with Brady. Without him, I exect them to have a few more losses, which they do. It's as expected.

With Brady at the helm to open the season, the schedule definitely was soft. Now take Brady out of the equation and the Pats have the potential to lose a game on any given Sunday with greater likelihood.
I don't see Cassel as getting better week by week, either. He has been very inconsistent which is to be expected being thrust into the starting role. I'm thinking he would much rather collect paychecks playing behind Brady and doing nothing rather than excel in the spotlight. He doesn't have much of an arm either, to be honest. His value to Belichek has to be his intelligence and knowledge of Belichik's offensive philisophoy, not his physical talent. Anything short of that asset and he wouldn't be playing at this level, IMO.
-

Cassel's getting better week by week and the team's gelling around him.
You have to be pretty dense to make the assumption that a backup would rather sit on the bench lol not only is it a lot more fun playin it also increases his market value.

Agreed. I'm not hating either - I just still expect the Pats to have a winning record, despite the loss of Brady. Maybe "I'm not impressed" would be put better if I said "I'm not surprised".

I agree with you both, but the pats also have a rash of injuries, two rookie cb's, several players on ir and a patched up offensive line. The pats STARTING rb's are there 4th and 5th backs on the roster.

According to the stats Cassel = better than Flacco : ) Cassel literally didn't play a down in college. He is getting better every week, and eventually he will be a good starting QB in the NFL. Not great, not very good....good. Cassel also played safety in college, and he has much more physical talent than you give him credit for. He is very athletic and fast for 6'5 235. His arm is average, but we don't really know what we have until after a full season. To say he is not improving week to week is insane.
The pats had an awesome draft, look for them to be very good in 2009. Mayo, Guyton, Wheatley, Wilhite, Richardson, BJGE and Crable are all starting and playing well. Mayo was nominated for defensive rookie of the year last week.

Not by much. The winning percentage is close, but the Giants make the NFC east a bit harder. I believe the AFC will be superior by year end.

Perhaps, but I'm looking at the division.
When you have those 4 teams beating up on each other every year... It's consistently the toughest division.
Not every year of course, but more often than any other.

Me to. The winning percentage is from all the teams in the division combined (for the whole year). Thats said, its very close, and by the numbers the NFC is slightly better. I think the AFC East has been under the radar.

You say that, but you're basing it on this year alone...
I'm talking about for the past 5 maybe 6 years.
When was the last time the Bills, Dolphins, or Jets were considered decent teams?

I know. My response was in regards to a statement that had to do with this year. Why would past years have anything to do with this year? I agree with you though, the NFC has been very tough for years.

Sorry... I guess when I interpret the hardest divisions, I look at this year and recently passed years as well.
I do agree that the AFC East is tough this year... Don't know how long that will last.

Giants go on the road and win without Plexico,Jacobs, and make a bunch of stupid penalties. :)

Aaron Ross.player of the week last week,4 penalties this week :-\

and holy shit Hedgcock finally caught the damn ball :o

Two of the interference calls were crap, especially the one on 3rd and long that eventually led to a TD. It was just good coverage.
lol @ Hedgecock. My neighbour was yelling "don't drop it - don't drop it" when it was in the air. WTF was that celebration of his?

I think he was doing some rowing for his celebration but as the announcer said "If you have to explain you celebration dance it's not a good one" ;D

I almost started him over Rivers today. Rivers only had 6, Cassel had -2. I'm down by 7 with AP to go. That 8 point difference might be the difference in the game.
