Gaffe #1: Palin doesn't know Fannie and Freddie are privately owned!

This was kind of embarassing for the McCain campaign today...

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, speaking in Colorado Springs, Colo., said Fannie and Freddie had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." The companies, however, aren't taxpayer funded but operate as private companies.

Palin's own town is being being pulled into the mortgage debacle and she doesn't even know how Frannie and Freddie works. How in the hell is she supposed to help other people in the US that are in financial crisis and losing their homes when all she can do is parrot talking points?
