Title: Obama slipping in the polls
Post by: MattT on September 10, 2008, 02:33:48 PM
Im starting to get concerned, he needs to hold a big rally in a huge stadium or something, in order to rally his party and get the spot light back on him.

Think about this one...

Palin WAS perfect - no interviews, all controlled stump speeches - until yesterday, when Obama used the "lipstick on a pig" comment and she had to respond with how offended she was, on bahalf of all women.  Yes, she claims to be tough enough to stare down Putin and Hugo Chavez, but she's deeply offended by a lipstick comment, huh?  Real tough...

And, Obama is on Letterman tonight.  Laughing about these silly lipstick charges.  Saying "If that had been what I was saying, palin would actually be the lipstick, adn Obama would be the pig!"

Kerry would have been pathetically apologizing with a long face. Obama is laughing off these nonsense charges.  And instead of returning to Alaska unscathed to hide for 3 weeks, Palin now returns as an offended whiner who cracked under one lipstick comment.

Methinks Obama just cracked that veneer, that gloss that she had.
And he's not going to apologize his way to a loss.

You need to learn to actually think for yourself. Telling people to read a book you liked is a blatant sign that you need to be spoon-fed ideas.  You lack reasoning skills, hence your constant resorting to other people's work, usually by cut and paste. You're simply a parroting plagiarist. You try but need to learn to think for yourself. It's time to take the next step.

I think you feel this way because in state-by-state polling, which the US system uses, Obama has a healthy lead:

Voting third party is probably the most honest and conscientious decision... personally I'd like to vote Nader/Chomsky '08...

...but...

...At this point it's either going to be McCain or Obama... so vote Obama.

People who voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004 are now falling for all the same bullshit from the McCain camp... which is sad considering the same people who twice voted for the worst president in American history (not my opinion... that's fast becoming consensus among historians) are now voting for another out of touch corporate shill and longtime supporter of Dubya simply because his running mate is another dumber-than-shit Jeebus freak.

So McCain/Palin versus Obama/Biden will split America along "Under 95 IQ" versus "Over 95 IQ" lines... and Obama could lose that race.

Doesn't anyone on the right notice that a McCain/Palin ticket is equivalent to voting Cheney/Bush? They've just changed the order... corporate shill for President and Creationist for VP.

Methinks you ain't got your facts straight. Palin has yet to even comment on the matter. She has hardly cracked; that honors falls to Obama and his supporters, as they're getting bent out of shape about this thing.

Every time someone has taken a shot at Palin, intentional or not, it has come back to burn them. What Obama is doing is called damage control. Going on Letterman hardly helps his case. Even Democratic supporters are quite concerned that Palin has him rattled. He's off message and is too focused on Palin, not his counterpart on the GOP, McCain.

Yes its very shocking to know that americans might elect another repub, after what they have been through these past 8 years.  They fall for McCains blatant lies for ads.   Again these are un educated people that make less then $40K a year so they're easily fooled.

However Obama has a strong ground game, much more so then McCains campaign.  And that is something the mccain campaign is over looking.  The democartic base is much larger then the republican base, and we have way more new registered voters them republicans.   So really all we need is a few % of independents votes come Nov 4 th and Obama will be in the white house.

IMO Obama still has it in the bag, just let this Sarah Palin bs fade out over the next 2 weeks.  Then wait for the VP debates, that will be a turning point in the campaign in favor for Obama, and he take the lead in the national polls again.  Then when the Obama/McCain debates take place, Obamas lead will increase even more.

As for "worst president", you might want to take a look at Jimmy Carter. I don't hear a lot of fond remarks about him. And the fact that Ronald Reagan BEAT THE MESS out of him in 1980 pretty much says it all.

MCWAY,

I consider Sarah Palin to be dumber than shit because she is a literalist Christian... she bases her life on the mistranslations of an overly edited book of superstitions.

And for the record Jimmy Carter is far from the worst president the US has ever had... he had his failings, but any impartial observer would agree that had the hostages been returned before the election in '80 he would have won a second term (Carter negotiated the release of the American hostages, but Reagan's people offered the kidnappers extra incentives if they would hold off releasing them till AFTER the election... that's right, Reagan paid terrorists to KEEP American citizens hostage).

An impartial observer would also agree that America was better off under Carter than Reagan DESPITE Americans FEELING Reagan was the better president.

Reagan allowed vested interests the opportunity to dismantle unions and the middle class, thereby effectively opening the treasury doors to any and all corporations. Something that has become flagrantly blatant during the Bush administration.

This is all FACT.

Since his term in office, Carter has demonstrated the quality of his character through his tireless work with charities such as Habitat for Humanity... Bush is a longtime loser/drunk/coke-head and sometime oil company shill AND THE WORST PRESIDENT IN AMERICAN HISTORY!

Professor Jared Diamond has said so.
Madeleine Albright has said so.
Noam Chomsky has said so.

...I'm living in the mountains of Ireland, how do I have a better understanding of American politics than some of the Americans on this site?

McWay, you would do better to explain to those reading that you yourself are also a (dumber-than-shit) literalist Christian Creationist fundamentalist (thousands of posts on the Religious Debates board attest to this) because you haven't presented any other good reason why you support the choice of Sarah Palin as VP.

Carter is pretty much responsible for much of the failed foreign policy that we have had to recover from since he was president. He let Iran go nutbag, he did zip about the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and refused to help the Mujih's. He buried our economy, he accomplished nothing. We've covered the Carter thing in depth here. The guy was horrible.

Most of the people here either already know or don't care what my views are on Creation. That has NOTHING to do with the subject at hand. Your assessment that Gov. Palin is dumb, simply because of her religious beliefs smacks of little more than utter silliness, with a healthy dose of skeptic arrogance.

But, as is often shown, when folks like you can't make a legitimate case for your arguments, you resort to claiming how smart you are and how dumb those who disagree with you are. It's rather infantile and, quite frankly, pitiful.

Oh, by the way, you, boy genius, just pledged your support for Obama, who has gone on record as being a Christian, a man of faith. He may even believe in Creation.

How's that for irony?  ;D

Why do you Palin supporters think Palin has done anything to Obama's momentum?  She hasn't said anything of substance.  She's a pretty face with a deplorable political perpsective.  She's window-dressing for the old and tired McCain.  She hasn't done a thing except show up.

Careful with Carter cracks, REagan adopted many policies of Carter and ran with them (deregulation, foreign policy-esp El salvadoran policy).  As for beating the mess out of Carter, check out the Iran hostage october surprise.  Wasn't it amazingly good timing to have the hostages released when Reagan was sworn in?
