Title: Mariusz wins MET RX WORLDS STRONGMAN
Post by: lion33 on September 14, 2008, 07:11:18 PM
He won his fifth overall tonight after barely beating Derek Poundstone in the atlas stones. Poundstone had a one point lead going into the stones and actually got the fifth stone up faster but it hit the side and fell.

When it comes out in December on ESPN should be great TV.

Mariusz Pudzianowski (left) is closing in on the final stone at the 2008 MET-Rx World’s Strongest Man contest. Derek Poundstone (right) was on his way up with his stone a tick or two ahead of Mariusz, but he didn’t quite get the stone placed and it came crashing back down. This should make for terrific television - watch for the 2008 WSM broadcast schedule. Randall J. Strossen, Ph.D. photo.

Derek Poundstone was second, Dave Ostlund was third, Phil Pfister was fourth, and Travis Ortmayer was fifth.

If this bloke Mariusz has now won the Worlds strongest man 5 times is that a new over-all record? if i recall right Jon pal sigmerson won 4 back in the 1980s etc, and Magnus van magnesson won 4 and Bill Kazmaier won 3-4 in the early-mid 1980s any one here know if 5 is the new Mark (ND, HULKSTER, M8, Icecold???)
