The right wing soical conservatives of the Bush era GOP got the need for regulations backward.
When it comes to PERSONAL sexual beahvior ( gay marriage, abstinance only ed) and reproductive rights for woman ( abortion/ birth control), they wanted laws and regulation. They got it with the gay marriage ban and push back on abortion rights, etc.
One would have thought that vans of gay men would get married, break into homes , and blow eachother on your living room floor. I am not gay but realize this issue is private and has no effect on my actual life.
Ironic how they wanted LESS regulation when it came to financial markets and investment banks.
They rolled back a lot of financial regs and we all know how wonderful that worked.
Another great success was the invasion and ocupation of Iraq, which worked out real well. It brings me joy to see the locals giving our troops flowers and parades. LOL, but that is a whole other screw up...

Hmmm good pt, but what group passed the lowering of GOV regs that allowed this (from 2002 -2005)?
The mortage crisis was more broad issue than the current meltdown that was due more to DEregulated investment banks and the now infamous "short sell" on Wal Street.

um...he was investigated and the company had to right down a ton of cash because of his stupidity. Ghram wrote a law that nobody did dick about until the lib built, minority driven housing house of cards came crashing down. Oh and Obama's guys love the deregulation because more minorities could buy houses. Good job guys.

Financial deregulation is a and always was a Republican party ideal.
