With the nationalisation of Fannie and Freddie, comrades Bush, Paulson and Bernanke started transforming the US into the USSRA (United Socialist State Republic of America).
This transformation of the US into a country where there is socialism for the rich, the well-connected and Wall Street (ie, where profits are privatised and losses are socialised) continues today with the nationalisation of AIG.
This latest action on AIG follows a variety of many other policy actions that imply a massive – and often flawed – government intervention in the financial markets and the economy: the bail-out of the Bear Stearns creditors; the bail-out of Fannie and Freddie; the use of the Fed balance sheet (hundreds of billions of safe US Treasuries swapped for junk, toxic, illiquid private securities); the use of the other GSEs (the Federal Home Loan Bank system) to provide hundreds of billions of dollars of "liquidity" to distressed, illiquid and insolvent mortgage lenders; the use of the SEC to manipulate the stock market (through restrictions on short sales).
Then there's the use of the US Treasury to manipulate the mortgage market, the creation of a whole host of new bail-out facilities to prop and rescue banks and, for the first time since the Great Depression, to bail out non-bank financial institutions.
This is the biggest and most socialist government intervention in economic affairs since the formation of the Soviet Union and Communist China. So foreign investors are now welcome to the USSRA (the United Socialist State Republic of America) where they can earn fat spreads relative to Treasuries on agency debt and never face any credit risks (not even the subordinated debt-holders who made a fortune yesterday as those claims were also made whole).
Like scores of evangelists and hypocrites and moralists who spew and praise family values and pretend to be holier than thou and are then regularly caught cheating or found to be perverts, these Bush hypocrites who spewed for years the glory of unfettered Wild West laissez-faire jungle capitalism allowed the biggest debt bubble ever to fester without any control, and have caused the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression.
They are are now forced to perform the biggest government intervention and nationalisations in the recent history of humanity, all for the benefit of the rich and the well connected. So Comrades Bush and Paulson and Bernanke will rightly pass to the history books as a troika of Bolsheviks who turned the USA into the USSRA.
Zealots of any religion are always pests that cause havoc with their inflexible fanaticism – but they usually don't run the biggest economy in the world. These laissez faire voodoo-economics zealots in charge of the USA have now caused the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression and the nastiest economic crisis in decades.

The financial crisis and bailouts are just appauling. Integrity needs to be reintroduced into loaning practices. Two things at hand, first and foremost greed and then being encouraged to give loans to people who would not normally qualify.
I absolutely hate this bailout socialist move...but it sounds like most experts believe this is the best thing to do to avoid further economic instability and depression. Kind of like...well we are in Iraq already and are neck deep so we have to do "x" now. I have very little faith in our government these days...both the administration and the congress. Why the f-ck are we letting government spend so much $??? With Obama (who is more socialism) and McCain, I see neither one of them cutting spending as we should be doing. People will regret not giving Ron Paul's general ideas more support.

The indication is that all of his proposed health care and taxing is set as a Socialist setup. He wants to have universal heath care which sounds good, but how do we pay for it? We all pay for it, even pay for the ones that don't work and have no plans to work since they are getting a handout. Make the richer people pay more taxes, Sounds great, but the problem is those rich people own companies that employee middle class people right? Next he is going to raise the Corporate taxes of the companies these "rich" people own,what happens when you raise taxes on a company? You layoff people when they cannot pay the taxes on their business. Income Sharing which is his tax plan is a form of a socialist government, Ask the Canadians. They are a socialist society. 50% of their paychecks go to the government, it helps supposedly pay for heathcare, but it doesn't work that well because most Canadians on the border of the US try to come and get medical care here in the US.

if you all didn't default on your mortgages then the government wouldn't have to be bailing fannie and freddie out. If you all didn't support the war then gas would be cheaper and the government wouldn't be considering bailing Lehman or whoever it is out. If you read business week or any financial magazine of any kind, the goal is to recuperate the companies instead of keeping them as government assets. The government's job is to help the people (such as bailing out a company), if this concept doesn't seem to be to your liking, move to north korea. Might look back to the Clinton congress in the mid '90's. When they over ruled red lining on home mortgages/loans and home insurance. Meaning that people in low income neighbors were OK'ed for loans of most any kind. Even if with a history of being unemployed on a regular bases. That would be mostly minority loans. Cheap money times. Little or zero down on a new home, but not always buying in their lower income areas.They wanted the middle class dream of a big house in a better neighborhood. Now it has come to bite banks and mortgages concerns in the ass. Starting as a false building boom, which carried through to the present when the bubble burst. Clinton and Bush administrations have equal blame, with lack of finance control. And letting big money and business have their way with the public.
EXTREME LEFT WING liberal democrats seem to be pushing towards socialism while some of the European nations are trying to get away from it. All democrat liberals are not extreme left wing, as are most republicans not RIGHT WING EXTREMEST. There are moderate and conservative voters in both party. Those are the votes most sought after by both party's at election time. General rule of thumb: Democrats:more government influence on you and me. Including higher taxes and entitlements. Republican: less government & taxes. Some where in the middle is the answer for a better country.

Those are the votes most sought after by both party's at election time. General rule of thumb: Democrats:more government influence on you and me. Including higher taxes and entitlements. Republican: less government & taxes. Some where in the middle is the answer for a better country.
As I've said before, though, with the left-wing liberal Democrats, I *know* what I'm getting.
With the left-wing liberal Republicans like Bush, however, I don't know I've got until they stick me with the bill.
JPM - If Bush was really a Republican - in action, not name - we'd be a lot better off now, I have no doubt about this.

Not an exact quote but basically: Many conservatives are going more right wing and many liberals are going more left wing, what we need are more moderates to emerge and agree on solving problems. He seems like a moderate democrat with great grounding, am I wrong?

The answer lies with combining the best of both systems. Semi-capitalism with safegards. This is not what Obama wants to do. He is a socialist. You have to wonder why the Dems have refused to adopt a moderate party platform?
Is it arrogance and ego that keeps them from paying attention to what's going on in the country, or does the DNC exist solely for the purpose of making its key players rich?

Democrats can never adopt a moderate line because of the big money influence of powerful left wing people with socialism in mind. George Soros comes to mind with his moveon.org blogs. Huffington is also a poisoned influence on America. Can include MSNBC & NBC and 90% of the elite left winged controlled media. Democrats can not be more moderate, they have a load money and power gun aimed at their heads.
There are two main factor doing battle with-in the democratic party, among some lesser others. Things you do not hear or read about on cable news or in the papers. Clintons made a lot of enemy's during their eight years. Those two almost looted the DNC of all the funds. Legal bills alone cause a lot of problems. The extreme left wing has control now. Main reason Hillary did not get the call to run for president. Or for that matter, vice president. In political life, it was her turn. Obama is from, and taught by, the Chicago Daily democratic machine. They play tough and dirty. Obama is the left wings socialist person of choice this election. But some how, something tells me, he will lose.
Something like the Reagan factor. People said they would never vote for Reagan, but once in the voter booth, they did. Those were Reagan democrats. Think the same thing is going to happen this election. Wave the flag for Obama in public. Vote the opposite way behind the curtain in the voters booth. There may be much more McCain people than America thinks.
