Title: A Brit interested in following American football.....where to start?
Post by: Boost on September 20, 2008, 01:36:00 PM
As a UK guy we don't get a lot of exposure to NFL, however America loves it so i feel like i am missing out

What would be a good team to support..and are there any classic matches that i should try to get hold of?

I also need to brush up on the rules of the game
 :)

Americans take football for granted because they grow up with it but for an outsider there are ALOT of rules to learn.

Best team of the modern era : Patriots

Best teams of all time : Packers, Cowboys, Steelers, Patriots, Dolphins, 49ers, Bears.

Redskins should be put in that list. Gibbs won three titles as a head coach. The same as Belichik.

NFL gamepass HD seems to be a good way to watch NFL.

In Scandinavia we get 4-6 games a week thru ViaSat channel

Good evening.

Although Wikipedia cannot always be the most accurate source of information, it does provide good information on American football - from rules to history of the game.  You can also get some great info on www.nfl.com

Even though I'm not a Cowboys fan, they are truly one of the marquee teams (while there is considerable debate on the subject, I would say the Pittsburg Steelers are another).  The Cowboys are, in fact, sort of a "lightning rod" in that most fans either love them or hate them (kind of like Man U in the EPL).

American football is a great game and I hope you enjoy watching it when you get the chance to do so.
