Bodybuilding is the celebration of the male physique.

You do the math.

I personally dont see bbuilding as celebration of male physique. I see it as a pastie which isnt queer inherently yet did become faggoty.

When the AAU ran bodybuilding, there was no money involved.  Small contests were run on a shoestring, a black backdrop and a spotlight.  The AAU officials, primarily lifters (P/L and O/L) ran the show, mainly after the lifting meets.  The physique contest was part & parcel of the basic lifting atmosphere.

The IFBB/NPC/Weider Inc. were against everything that I mentioned in the first paragraph, and changed the sport slowly over the last 30 years.

The internet in the last decade has surely added to these factors as well.

For example... the trophy you get for winning the super bowl =

A football.

Trophy you get for winning the Mr.Olympia =

A naked man with a lean, athletic, muscular physique.

Ahhh so PLing and Oly lifting ran hand in hand with 'bodybuilding' interesting.

I understand now why so many older guys in my gym (late 60's 70's) done bb shows and also done weightlifting

The three sports were run by one AAU Regional Chairman.  IFBB contest were almost nonexistent.

What kind of "events" would they compete in?

What kind of "events" would they compete in?

none they just need to stand there next to the pros kinda like girls did with arnold back in the day

then people will say "look at those chicks, no wonder he's half naked, no way he's queer"

problem solved and the sport will rival ufc on tv in no time

sorry to burst your bubble, but back in the 1940 and 50s all the weightlifters thought bodybuilding was queer.

In the Bosco cartoons in Strength and Health magazine back in the 50s, they were always showing those who followed the Weider Method (which was how to lift to get big rather than lift to get strong for weightlifting contest) as effeminate.

Bodybuilding (oiled men in thongs on a stage) has always been flamingly gay...  where have you been?

Nothing at all wrong with lifting weights, dieting, getting in shape, etc,  but if you ever have the urge to shave your body hair, put on a fake tan, "oil up", strip down to a thong, and do a "routine" for an audience consisting mostly of other men...  you're a fuccking fagg0t!

Hope this helps.

Sounds pretty obvious when you put it that way.  ::)
