Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin, presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.
According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the Right hand over the heart.

We had one off the worst train crashes on american soil in a long time and you could not see anything about it on TV...Where were all these investagators showing us all what happend...
Paris Hilton was going to jail at one time and we had to listen to the TV media tells us all about it for a month...But when a train crashes and kills 20 something people and injures over 100, we really don't hear a peep....Fucking sad...
When this happend, the next day i turned the TV on and couldn't find a thing about it...I said to the girl I live with, Watch these mother fuckers are setting us up for something big...I even told here that a huge terrorist attack was probably going to happen...I just couldn't believe that they weren't talking about the train crash...
And then it happend, the world banks etc were collapsing...What a fucking joke...They didn't want the media filled with death when they need it filled will banks closing etc...

If you're willing to put in the work, you can succeed in America. Some will always have it easier, some will have it harder, but there are very little restrictions that can't be overcome by hard work in America.
If you're reasonably intelligent and willing to work your ass off, you can become a doctor, lawyer, etc.
If you're not reasonably intelligent but still willing to work your ass off, you can start a business or go into politics.
The only problem is most people don't like to work their ass off. They don't want to work their way through college. They don't want to bust their ass.

Coach I am a retired CA (or CPA equivalent in USA). I am a fairly wealthy old girl. My point is that the dumb majority of americans are brainwashed into thinking there is something special about the USA whereas there are plenty of free countries which it is possible to be just as free and just as successfull however they also look after their old and give their poor a chance to get educated and live regardless of health insurance.
I don't go on about Scotland being the best country in the world and I don't see why the USA does except because it is brainwashed.

Boonstack seriously , it is great to be free to be able to do all the things you mention but EVERY civilised country in the world enjoys the same freedom and gives more opportunity to people born into poorer backgrounds. It is not the governments job to provide health care, housing etc., nor should it be.
Thats called communism/socialism.

Don't agree with all per se but interesting points.
I, and many others, what this big hubba made about being "free" is - like it some unique concept only in one nation. Most nations in the world are democratic, it's nothing unique. You would think the whole world lives under gestapo control the way some talk. Being "free" is the norm for well over a hundred nations.
I always find it interesting that some people here have called my nation socialist - as we get free healthcare and college...even though we pay no income tax.

In fact, I can name four people that are family friends that have developed water front property, and are now paying six figures in income tax off the profit they made from that. People in other parts of the world don't work much past 60 but at Disney there are hundreds of old girls even older than me working because they can't afford to retire. I myself am not exactly rich but have a house valued at over $1 million, drive 2 mercedes, have a pension of $90,000 per year ($15,000 from the state) and make $1200 per day 4 days per month as a non executive director of 4 companies.
I will state once again (and type it slowly for you), it is easy to become rich in any country in the world (especially Russia and Nigeria as long as you are one of the elite corrupt few). USA is nothing special in that regard. Difference is that the majority are not supported and if you are born poor you probably will not be able to get an education (assuming you don't die at birth due to having no medicare). The rest of the civilised world have social care to prevent death of the poor and actually help poor students make something of themselves. America is the land of the haves and have nots. Look at the poor black people of New Orleans who are living worse than if they had remained slaves in Africa. Well Coach we pay 0% for first $10,000, 22% for next $60,000 and then 40% above $70,000. I have all my income received by my own consultancy company and take my income as a dividend so pay only 10% tax. ;D

Boonstack, I love the USA and spend at least 2-4 weeks per year there. I lived in California for a long time in the 80's. It's just that there are many other great countries in the world and we don't preach about our countries being the greatest and the land of the free. Your patriotism is admirable however and we could do with more of it in the UK. :)
Trust me, im as far from a typical "America: love it or leave it" bumper sticker type there is.

I myself would encourage more emphasis upon liberal arts, heavy in the math & sciences, and just a more general "wordly" knowledge about things. Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin, presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.
According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the Right hand over the heart.
'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides,' Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. The eastern europeans are flooding all parts of the world and for the Polish it is Scotland which is the number 1 destination of choice (100,000 here and we only have a total of 5 million population.
