Northampton man charged with selling steroids

4:07 PM EST, January 14, 2008
A Northampton man has been charged with selling hundreds of steroid pills to an undercover trooper at an area gym.

Edward Michael Moyzan, 35, of 1225 Main St., was charged Friday with possession of a controlled substance and possession with the intent to deliver. He was arraigned before District Judge Wayne Maura and is free on $50,000 unsecured bail.

Court documents state an undercover trooper bought two baggies with 300 pills that tested positive for steroids. Police said the steroid buys happened in November 2006 and January 2007 at Gold's Gym, 2134 W. Union Blvd., Bethlehem.

State police could not be reached for comment to determine why it took so long to file charges. Moyzan could not be reached for comment Monday.

Didn't this happen a while ago?  What happens now?  What is the typical sentence for this kind of infraction?

correct except for the fact that at ~6'4 it would be nearly impossible for me to weight as low as 168 even though i don't train anymore.

Bay, a parking ticket is an infraction, spitting on the sidewalk is an infraction, dealing a controlled substance/steroids is a felony  ::)

What does 300 tabs of dbol go for these days? $75? $100? How much did this bust cost the tax payers? What will it cost to prosecute this guy? What about the penalty be it jail time or probation?

This weekend we will all be watching with bated breath the biggest abusers of anabolic hormones ever. Their careers are literally based upon the use of steroid and other related products. The top tiered guys live relatively prosperous lives along with some degree of fame and fortune. Should they all be jailed? Would society be better off with Cutler and Dex behind bars?

I don't get it. As long as one doesn't hurt or harm anyone else what does it matter what one does to themselves? Be it getting stone drunk, eating butter sticks and gummy bears for breakfast, piercing your tongue, smoking, or taking steroids so that you can enhance physical performance and appearance. What is a greater cost to society: alcohol, obesity or people using deca and gh?

I wonder if there will ever be a day when the war on drugs will be looked back upon as we now look at prohibition. With a sense of naive nostalgia based on good intentions but poor judgment?

Because steroids are responsible for thousands of casualties each year! We also have to save the children.

Look at lyle alzedo, steroids created a tumor in his head.
And chris benoit even killed his family because of roid rage.

Do you want more evidence??

Steroids are supplements!
You need extra testosterone to grow larger muscle just like one may need more energy intake to fuel their highly physical work day.

Pellius, what ended up happening after your personal experiance with LE and steroids?

LOL at MuscleHedz.

Still waiting on my court date. Talk to a good friend I went to high school with that is now a detective. I looked him up and he told me that he just happens to be a good friends for years of the detective in charge of my case. I seemed to have made a good impression on him (the detective that was in charge of the $195 raid). It really does help if you behave yourself, go along with the program and be polite and respectful.

Anyway, my friend told me that it was clear that I was no big time dealer or dealer of anything. Most I'll get is probation BUT, he said there's an off chance that he (the detective in charge) might just let it die. I was like, "What?" And my friend told me that if the prosecutor doesn't push it and the detective just lets it sit it will just die. I won't get my guns back, I'll have an arrest record which I can have expunge in three years or so since there was no prosecution but it will pretty much go away.

I'm not counting on that and I'm still mentally prepared to go to trial. My friend also assured me that if it comes to that he can hook me up with a good public defender since he pretty much knows them all.

It really helps if you happen to know the right people. I really want my guns back and truly resent that the government can just bust into your place, trash it, and take your stuff when you never harmed anybody but we gave them that power. Power never granted by the Constitution. But if it becomes a choice between my guns and my freedom well, I can always get another Glock 19. It won't have the same fond memories of the original but considering my choices....

I know people didn't believe my story and I still can't believe it. It still seems like a dream but it happened. A SWAT team came and raided my place for $195 order (I know, I had two previous orders seized (none over $200) so I know I'm an idiot but I just never imagine).  If you're a nobody the government can pretty much do whatever they want. Hell, even if you're a somebody. Rush Limbaugh got busted for pain killers and they just recently raided Ryan O'Neal's place because his son used amphetamines.

Leave us the Fvck alone already! Stop busting into people's homes and just go after the people that hurt others. It's insane how much taxpayer's money goes into "protecting" people from themselves.

just curious here... but IF the case does NOT get dropped, but say u "do" get charged with something/probation - #1, what will the charge be, and #2, depending on charge how can u be so sure u will be able to own a handgun?

bro, you have been a victim of abuse of authority. When the LEGAL effects of a substance (this case steroids) are far worse than the HEALTH effects, there is an obvious injustice done. its bullshit i know, but this is same govt that throws people in jail for smoking pot.  ::)

...well said.

Why isn't there a bodybuilders union?

Moyzan could call an expert from the union to testify just how much drugs it takes to constitute "personal use" for a 300 lb bodybuilder... might mitigate the charges somewhat?

Actor Andy Brynarski (spelling?) avoided an intent to supply rap in Australia by arguing that all he knew of Australia was that they had "shrimp on the barbie" for Christmas dinner... the judge let him off Scot-free.

The charge is possession and promoting the use of a harmful substance. I don't know if I'll ever be able to own a firearm. That seems to be always a good thing in the eyes of the government. An unarmed population is easier to tame.

Here in Hawaii the papers were bragging the other day about how much weed they confiscated last year. Let's compare someone smoking weed to, say, alcohol consumption. How many wives have been beaten, children molested, people killed on the roads, fights broken out because someone got high on pakalolo?

Look, I don't smoke, drink and have never been high or drunk in my life. It's just never been my thing. But I don't give a royal, husky crap if someone wants to drink themselves to death or become a stoner as long as I don't have to pay for it and as long as they don't harm anyone. Sure people get themselves in trouble when they're drunk but that's when they should pay the price. People get in trouble when they angry. Should we now make anger illegal?

I read that a chiropractor has to do 5 years due to federal minimum sentencing for supplying GH to his patience. He's 48 and has to do five years. That's the least they could give him. He'll lose his practice and I don't know how his wife and kids will support themselves while he's behind bars let alone when he gets out. And for what? Allowing people, under their own free will, to feel better and healthier. He should be given an award for improving the quality of people's lives. And the government loses the tax dollars they would have gotten from him running a successful practice and now we, the tax payers, have to pay for his incarceration and probably child support and welfare since he'll have a tough time finding a job as a convicted felon.

It's insanity. Pure, unadulterated insanity.

Damn it! Give me my guns back! Rise people! Rise!

I need a drink and maybe smoke a fatty....

he got off pretty easy with only a $50,000 bond, it is still more than typical but lately the judges have been really dropping the hammer on dg/cg charges.

That sucks man.  You should talk to a lawyer just to be on the safe side.  He may know some guys too and be able to push along the DA dropping the charge, which would be money very well spent.  Hope it works out for you.
