Title: cooling glove
Post by: triple_pickle on September 23, 2008, 08:48:39 AM
bullshit or not ???

.... Their first "aha" moment in cooling came after they talked their assistant Vinh Cao into doing his regular workouts in the lab instead of at the gym. His routine included 100 pull-ups. One day, Grahn and Heller started using an early version of the Glove to cool him for 3 minutes between rounds of pull-ups. They saw that with the cooling, his 11th round of pull-ups was as strong as his first. Within six weeks of training with the cooling breaks, Cao did 180 pull-ups a session. Six weeks later, he went from 180 to 616....

10 x 10 isn't impressive.  How he got to 616 tho?

Some pretty outrageous claims in that article.  Sounds like a couple dudes trying to make money.

$2500?  Maybe I'll just hold a couple frozen bottles of water during my next 3 minute rest.

Haha, no doubt.  $2500 down and you've still got one warm hand.  Better double up!

PS - Is the ball sack warmer variable?  I'm kinda picky about my scrotum temperature.

Hmm. Keeping cold while/during exercising has been investigated for some years now. Read an article in New Scientist at least 4-5 years ago. Results they found sounded extraordinary, but I was left wondering about actual usage/practicality.

Couldn't you replicate these experiments with a bucket of ice water...?

Why would anyone pay so much for such a useless product?

Jesus Christ  ::)

Sorry to disappoint the know it all skeptics and pajama wearing basement experts, but this product does actually show some promise. It uses a vacuum to force blood into the hand to decrease internal body temperature.
