Apples and oranges man. He would be in the hospital after one hit.

We have a saying in the United States, "Its like putting the J.V. up against the Varsity"...

Well it ain't even that... it's like the Freshman, 14 year old, pubes haven't even grown fully in yet, 0-10 team.... Versus the 18 and even 19 year old (cause their daddys held them back in 3rd grade purposely for high football) 3rd straight year 5A Texas State Championship Varsity....

Don't compare Rugby to American Pro Football.

What position would he possibly play? Runningback? Sorry bro, that is a black mans position and some Aussie/Englishman damn sure ain't gonna come in and change that trend...

John Riggins is the last relevant white running back I can think of. I think Merril Hoge might have played it too, Alstot was more of a fullback.

Very long strides (even when in traffic),runs upright and has little to no cutting ability. That guy wouldent last one down in the NFL. He doesent have the athleticism to be a pro, nevermind start on an NFL team. There is so much more speed in the NFL than rugby it's not even funny.

Some of the bigger, more physical corners in the league would come in from the side and light him up... Agreed, he isn't ready for the NFL

Don't get me wrong he moves great for a big man, but all his runs bounce to the outside. I doubt he could apply that same ability between the tackles, with sub 4.5 lb's ( who weigh 230+ lb's) and 350 lb defensive linemen plugging up the running lanes. He's larger than most the guys trying to bring him down, in the NFL guys are his size, and even if their not, one good cut block to the legs and his run is over. I say that because he runs so high, that he would not be able to defense that type of hit.

That's not even getting into the fact that he has to move like that in pads.

So the guy is the phenomenon of rugby... the best runner in rugby of all time and you say he wouldn't be able to cut it at any level of NFL  ::)

Stats:

Height: 6'5"
Weight: 265 pounds
Speed: 100m in 10.8 seconds
40m in  4.8 seconds (it has been estimated this would work out to a 4.5 for 40 yards)

Physical stats?

It's not about that.  It's about skill.l

Looks good on paper, but I can give you a list of guys with better numbers who did nothing in the NFL. He runs high, and only looks good when he is bouncing to the outside, running vs smaller - nonathletic, tacklers. In traffic, he would be man handled by lb's his own size. He runs with extremely long strides, and does not change direction quickly or seamlessly. He wouldn't even make an NFL roster as a rb. He is WAY to tall.

Couple that with the fact that he does not wear pads, and there is no real defensive scheme. 350 lb defensive linemen would eat him alive. Maybe if he could catch the ball effectively, he could be a good NFL TE. Your comparing apples to oranges. The speed of the NFL game is so much greater than what you see in Rugby. Lots of guys can run and jump, very few guys can excel vs athletes of the highest level in a strategic game like American football.

I'm not trying to be a dick here.....the guy looks good, but he is running on the outside of the plays, free in space. Between the tackles he just looks like a big dude who has more size then the men trying to tackle him. I picture a guy like Demarcus Ware, lining him up and dropping him behind the line of scrimage with no problem.

"Stats" dont mean shit in the American game.

You were making good points up until you said NFL is faster. You probably havn't watched much rugby and to the novice's eye a lot of skills would go unnoticed.
Maybe Jonah could find himself on the defensive team? He can hit as well  ;)

I meant organized speed. The NFL game is different in the fact you have to set a play, and run it. This guys might be a beast of a lb in the NFL. I was referring to him becoming a running back ( which I believe he is far to tall for).
