I want to format that fucking thing because I can't install my fucking wireless internet modem.
Windows Vista doesn't recognize the drivers or some shits like that, whatever that means.
so I want to format it and install XP.
but I tried the "format C:" like I did with other PCs and it doesn't work

enter ur windows xp cd and reboot the system, during reboot, it should give you a message like " press any key to boot from cd"...so press any button and you'll boot from the windws cd...
read through the installation, tell it to install it on C drive, and make sure you specify to FORMAT DRIVE BEFORE INSTALLING or something like that... this will wipe out ( format) your C drive and install XP for you. PM if u got more Qs

Just put in the WinXP CD it will ask you if it should format the found drive at some point during installation.

Unfortunately you cant do this with a regular format.
Its a long process.
I did it with a programm called nlite. you must put some files extra with this programm on your windows xp cd, so the pc regognizes the cd and then install it.
I Don't remember exact though.
Try searching keywords such as "error installing win xp on laptop", "nlite" etc...

delete the partition, at least do it right you fucking idiot, then NORMAL format, not quick. Im sure you made a small partition before fucking up your laptop, in order to keep your valuable pedophile pictures and oiled man in speedos archive, safe, or you just backed stuff in dvd's?

I can help you for a small fee....lol. if you don't see it, boot to Vista, and login, then put the XP cd and choose install
it doesn't work if I do that, I already tried.
it tells my I cant install XP because Vista is the most recent version.
Benz: I just tought formating the thing and intalling XP would be easier cause I am tired to try to intall the modem.
I brought my laptop to the store and the dude there tried for about and hour and a half to install it and it wasn'T working either.
I know I am not good with computers but I did the format c: things on my PC before so I tought it would also work.

Vista looks kewl and all and seems very "user" friendly BUT it really does not recognize or allow a LOT of drivers, hardware and software because it, Microsoft, doesn't deem them "safe". Looks like Microsoft wants to monopolize on everything that goes into the shell. >:(

If you can afford it, it would be easiest to buy a new modem that is supported by vista. Or look online for drivers for your particular modem.

It is user friendly, expect bugs as any brand new OS pushed by the world to be released and it does recognize/allow equal or more than xp, even the no brand chinese gadgets.

You know anything about IpodService.exe before I reformat my computer and have the dude at the computer store fuck with it? ;D

With SP1 Vista has really improved. I hated Vista at first as well, but unfortunetly at some point you wont be able to buy a new machine with it, and with server 2008 out now you are going to have to move over as they are build off the same kernel and it helps if you know the Vista UI. XP sp 3 probably was the last straw for that OS as well so support will go away sooner rather than later.
dont get me wrong. my gaming rig at home is still hp, but my work machine is now Vista.

thats from itunes, i have it too, if it bother you too much just kill itunes from startup i guess. If you dont like itunes, ephpod or poddox

So I formated the thing, installed xp, it recognized the modem with no problems and now the fucking wireless internet works
