Public opinion has people opposing this Bailout Bill, 50 to 1 in some polls. People don't want it.
Today, republicans had the guts to vote on what the PEOPLE wanted, not what Boehner or Pelosi, Bush/paulson wanted.
Our voices were heard today. True, maybe they just did it to keep their job. But we're only 777 points down after Bush/paulson spent 2 weeks telling us the world would end without their bill.

Maybe Paulson meant his world would end.
Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall, and witness Paulson being dragged into some shadowy guys office having to answer for the vote failure. Kind of like a mob bookie who takes the wrong bet and loses that family a whole bunch of money
He tried to take a page from Oral Roberts who yrs ago told his sheeple he needed to raise $2 million,
...or God would call him home. ::) To this day, ...I still say they should have called his bluff.

Let's hope they have a backbone and stand by their decision.
Made me proud to be a republican... :'(

One economic guy on Fox News claims that part of the problem is "bad advertising". Basically, people don't want a bill, where people who ran businesses into the ground are walking away with multi-million-dollar severance packages. The bill is seen as rewarding the criminals for the crime, hence you have the backlash from the voters.
Plus, people are indeed looking out for their jobs in Washington. They want the credit, if it works; while, they also want to pass the buck to their opponents, if it doesn't work.

Paulson is a criminal. I dont think anyone can or would argue that.

It certainly seems like we're rewarding failure but then that's been a hallmark of the Bush Administration
