Unless someone can give me a good reason not to, I will not be voting this year. Both Obama and McCain pushed for this bailout and exposed themselves as typical everyday politicians. They have shown that neither of them offer a lick of change. It will be the same ol thing as we have today.

There is a lot of truth to what you say.

Vote barr.
If he gets enough votes, then the 3rd party candidate gets federal funding in 2012.
Then we suddenly have a party reinvention :)
-
I understand the frustration. I'm not thrilled by the choices, and I'm opposed to this bailout, but the three main reasons I'm not sitting this one out are:
1. I'm voting against Obama. I think he is dangerously unqualified and is a quasi-socialist.
2. I'm voting for McCain in large part because I think he'll make a better CIC and we're at war on two fronts.
3. Voting is one of the most sacred rights we have. I will exercise that right in every election.
Does anyone remember the voting lines in South Africa after the fall of apartheid? I'll never forget those images. It's too bad more Americans don't take advantage of our right to vote.

Obama leads in hawaii by 63 to 30.
Damn, you guys are some serious libs!
-
So you agreed with every vote on bills before by McCain (or Obama)? Really? Can you name 5 bills in all their years in office that you agreed with? My guess is you've never before in your life paid attention to a single bill that was passed. And another important question: have you actually READ this bill? Which sections (of the hundreds) do you disagree with?

Barr is no Libertarian. He is a fence jumper. Maybe Nader...maybe Chuck Baldwin...
-
I understand what you say BB but this is just to much.
The war and who will be a better CIC; In all reality, we are going to be at war no matter who is in power. I am a Civil Engineering troop in the AF so withdrawing combat troops doesn't apply to me. Who do you think is rebuilding the nation of Iraq. I will be in Iraq and then in Afghansitan and CE troops will be the last ones out, we always are.
Since Obama hasn't passed but 2 bills there isn't much to agree with. I agree with his proposal for the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act/ Wounded Warriors Act, bills in which he showed a break from typical politics.
As far as this bill goes, I don't believe in bailing out banks. They were investment banks, they made bad investments. The government shouldn't be helping them out. Have you read it enough to be able to support it?

Which one? The one who said the government secretly murdered 5,000 people and believes in that 911 conspiracy theory? Or the one who led the impeachment charge against Clinton, couldn't win an election in his own state, has been married three times?

MY CHOICES WERE AS FOLLOWS:
1. RON PAUL
2. ROMNEY
3. RUDY
4. FRED THOMPSON
5. MCCAIN
WE HAVE A CHOICE BETWEEN TWO TERRIBLE CHOICES. ONE STINKS, THE OTHER IS JUST HORRIBLE (Obama).
Its a choice between stinks and horrible. I am going with stinks because it is not as bad as horrible.
The bottom line is that McCain or Obama is going to be the next president. Of course you can vote 3rd party, but that person is not going to win this year.
You have to decide who you hate less. for me, its McCain. I find some of his issues and positions appalling. The immigration issue alone makes me cant stand him, but with Hussein, there are so many other problems I have with him that I cant fathom him as president.

I might like you after all!
RP would have been great.
Romney was a little bicth at time, but would be great for this economy.
Rudy was a fearmonger - more of Bush with him.
Thompson was a cool leader - but didn't know much about the topics when grilled. That kinda doomed his campaign.

Yuck. Democrats are disgusting and Republicans are even more disgusting. I still don't get why you are a Republican 240. :-\ ??? :-X

I agree with most party domestic issues.
however i think the pat act is ripe for abuse.
I think the spending 4.5 trillion on 2 elective wars is a bad idea.
-
Stupidist thing in the world is to make a statement by not voting, especially in the US. So few people vote, your "statement" will mean nothing. If you don't like the two main candidates, vote for a third party candidate or write-in a candidate. That sends a message to Washington much more than not voting. The only one you are hurting by not voting is yourself.

If Nader is a libertarian then Cynthia McKinney is white.

I didn't say that Nader was a Libertarian, now did I? I just said that I would be willing to vote for him because he agrees with Ron Paul on 4 crucial issues.

How do you go from Ron Paul to Nader? ???
They're on opposite ends politically.
That's why I made that comment.

They have the same Foreign Policy, they agree the Federal Reserve needs oversight, they both want to stop Corporate Socialism and both want to Balance Budgets.

Dude, you don't have to make any sales pitches on RP to me. I've backed that man from the start.
But they are both right. The two party system is DESTROYING this country.

I am just saying that Nader is a decent alternative, at least better than McSame and Obomb. He is honest which counts for a lot.

I agree. I can't bring myself to vote for Nader but you're right - he's better because at least he's addressing those key issues.

I liked the fact that Ron Paul does not give political speak and tells it like it is. He actually cares about the constitution and supports limited govt in all respects.
-
Which 'party' domestic issues?
Things I prefer repub domestic:
more jail time for criminals.
less abortion. allow in some cases, but less.
less of obama's BS social programs.
drug testing for welfare recipients.
You know, cut out the help for the worthless bums.
Of course, none of that matter is Mccain borrows us into bankruptcy.
-
Drug testing for government assistance...what a great f'n idea. Some gov programs are necessary but if we are paying, we have the right to ask these recipients not to waste it (or themselves) on drugs and excessive alcohol. 240 for prez!
-
I don't know what the hell to do. The more that happens the more I am passionate that we made a bigger mistake in not giving Ron Paul a bigger voice. He was right on more policies than either of these two. I see Obama as the better appearing president but his policies scare me in the long term, particularly with unchecked power with a dem congress, house and speaker...plus the teachers & their unions influencing kids in schools in a liberal tradition.
George Bush & Dick Cheney completely f-cked the Republican party. It needs to get back to the smaller gov, protect personal freedoms, more constitutional roots.
Obama will make the US more socialistic. He will change the country from its constitutional roots.
-
240, can you post some info on Barr?
I am either not voting or reluctantly voting for McCain. I would have voted for Romney but McCain...I just don't know. Too many things I disagree with.
The two party system is destroying this country.

shootfighter, check out his positions. Not a huge distance from Ron Paul.
Very clean cut and easy to read:
http://www.ontheissues.org/GA/Bob_Barr.htm
If a 3rd party candidate does well enough, they get a shot at federal funding in 2012. This is how we change the 2 party system - when enough people put their vote elsewhere.

Fuck yeah!

You're obviously no different. Telling him to swallow his pride and vote for something he doesn't agree with nor want. Good job, McBush 2.0 Straw Man. In reality, you're no different. Oh, the irony. The i-r-o-n-y.

I have no problem suggesting he vote for Obama
he can vote for Nader, Ron Paul or McKinny if he wants to .....they all suck more than Obama (IMO) or he can do nothing like about half the eligible voters.

Interesting how you try to push your own agenda on the unwilling. Very neocon like. Guess the apple really doesn't fall too far from the tree with you democratic and republican scumbags. When it boils down, you're all the same. Ironic.

what agenda?
yes you've discovered my grand scheme to influence the election by convincing anonymous people on GB.com to vote for Obama
you caught me
the two main choices aren't very good
hold your nose and vote for one (MY CHOICE WOULD BE OBAMA)
or do something else
or be like 1 out of 2 eligble voters and do nothing
-
I am having the same problem, I was voting for McCain before he chose palin for VP... I cant bring myself to vote for Obama. His Socialist views really scare me, but palins religion may scare me more. I don't know I think I am just going to write in RP he was my number one choice anyways.. I really wish McCain had chosen another VP. I think a McCain Romney ticket would have been good. One good for the war and the other an awesome business man which with the economy would have been good right now. I really don't know what to do anymore. This is like picking the most beautiful turd I mean no matter how you dress em up they are both shit

what a joke... ahahaha... you make it sound like he's got him tied up torturing him if he doesn't vote Obama ::) go away BF.

Look at this way, I voted for Romney in the primary. I don't like McCain that much due to immigration, CFR, and some other garbage with him. I wanted Romney as VP as well. I like Palin and think she will get better with time. Considering how bad the current lot of politicians have screwed things up, how much worse fo a job could she possibly do????
Voting for Obama is simply unthinkable on too many levels to list. Between his associations with Rev. Wright, Ayeres, Rezko, Odinga, etc, to his wanting to raises taxes on everything that moves, to his foregin policy nonsense, etc, I simply can never vote for this guy.
For me, it is a choice between terrible and unthinkable. mcCain may be terrible, but Obama is simply unthinkable.
I would rather go with terrible than unthinkable.
