Do they?
-
yeah. they are a little bit too starchy to keep you in ketosis if you are trying to avoid coming out of ketosis.... but if your not worried about that then carrots are great and they contain lignan fiber which is really great..

Don't they have like half the sugar of apples?

idk to be honest. apples are really low calorie though, and so are carrots. one difference is apples are sucrose (fructose/glucose) while carrots are pure glucose. also that lignan fiber i dont believe is in apples.

I am just low carbing 50-150 grams a day depending on the day and needs; so I guess the orange things are ok then, eh?

in my opinion if your not eating any starch then all vegetables are 'free' as long as its not corn or peas. carrots included.

According to
http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/
100g of boiled carrots will yield just over 8g of carb.

Yes. Raw carrots are pretty much the best thing you can put in your body.

If you are going for very low carb, I wouldn't use carrots on your low days. I always recommend Veggies with a Glycemic Index of 20 or less (Such as Broccoli, etc).
Carrots vary too much in all of the published lists and i wouldn't trust them. For example,
Carrots, raw (Romania) = 16 GI
Carrots, boiled (Canada) = 92 GI
(Results from glycemicindex.com)
Excellent vegetable if you're not looking at GI numbers though.
