some say 69 calories
some say 50 calories
some say muscle doesn't burn calories unless you USE it by MOVING
who is right?
are there any studies done on this?

rumor has it a lb of muscle burns a lb of fat a week at rest.. so if you actually put forth the effort and got out from behind your pc, you might actually reap the benefits of hard work. :P ;) ;D

just like everything else in regards to the human body..there's a "range" instead of set rules as you so stated. Some people obviously burn up more than others but having said that, one lb of lbm tends to do you alot of good either way.

for example a person with y amount of free t3 would have a certain amount of calories per hour per pound while a person with y+3 amount of free t3 would have a larger amount of calories per hour per pound (probably exponentially, but no studies have yet shown the exact rate at which t3 correlates to energy expenditure).

You would be surprised at how few calories one pound of muscle burns in a day. Science used to say 30 - 40 but more recent studies show as little as 6 calories per lb. a day.
If you went on a hardcore calorie counting diet for a few months, you would figure it out pretty damn quick. Of course, you would have to know (as precisely as possible) how much bodyfat you had and how many calories were in the food you were eating. You would also have to keep a meal diary and weigh your food.
It can be done with a fair amount of precision--if you are really motivated. :P

I`ve always heard a pound of muscle burns between 50-75 calories while at rest,while a pound of fat burns around 3-4.
Who really cares,just get leaner and train hard.............don`t sweat the minutia.
