Title: You used to be able to buy a home from Sears.

They had everything you needed down to the number of nuts and bolts and tools etc...the truck showed up to the lot dropped everything off and off to work you went. Very modest homes self built with electric heat, etc...I think some are still standing . No contractors, no licensures, no government, just build and go.

they had a really cool craftsman home.  I've seen a few. not cheap today.

There's still quite a few around southern California.......there are a couple of areas in Orange County that are predominately Sears craftsman homes from the 1920's and 1930's.
