when i first joined a gym i used to do 3 sets bench press every single day - i wanted that arnie chest - got it too, then lost it :( i'm looking for it again :)

I heard about all these injuries that came from bench press and I guess I was too scared to bench :-\
I'm gonna start in 2-3 weeks after Mr. Getbig.....after my body, elbows, rotator cuff heals :(

funny thing is, almost every guy who first starts working out .. bench is all they do

I used to do a real simple workout about 5x a week of just bench, pullups/chins and barbell curls when i started. didnt even train legs for the first two years, not that i recommend that!

hamstrings
that is if they even start training some of those body parts :o
I didn't even train my shoulders until after 6 months out of 8 months of training

I definitely wish my chest was better. Its not bad, however my back development is so superior to everything else it makes my chest seem weak by comparison. However, I love having wide flaring lats so its all relative ;D

looking big as a house there Goudy, looking at your parents it's obvious you have some great genetics for size and strength, both of them look like strong healthy people.

Dad is 61 but had to retire cos heart problems despite not drinking in 15 years and always eating helthy...though he had a stressful life so many kids us not making things easy for him etc. He is much hapier now and back to full strength.
Also Quaker, I know u are a NFL fan, was in work last night and watching sky sports, NFL was on and started watching it...not bad. I particularly enjoyed the top 10 plays.

depends on the position, the only guys who typically have to throw the football with any frequency are quarterbacks and i'd think the typical NFL QB could probably throw 60-70 yards if they got a running start.

I was a goalkeeper and had a quare throw on me. I was wondering as i have played about with a american football as a kid/teenager maybe the odd afternoon...lotta technique to it. Plus getting your hands around the damn thing is a challenge in itself

you would probably be a full back or linebacker or maybe tght end.. you wouldnt need to wory about throwing the ball..

Linebacker is basically the guy that knocks peoples heads off. He tries to break through the offensive line(the guys that protect the quarterback or make a path for the runningback/fullback) and make the tackle.
Fullback will run the ball on occasion, but mostly makes blocks for the running back who is faster and usually a little smaller than the fullback
Tight end is like a wide receiver(guy that catches the ball), except a tight end blocks more and catches less. Tight ends are also usually bigger than wide receivers.

You got that right. I had a neighbor that used to play college ball for Ohio State. Biggest bone structure I have ever seen on a person. Absolutely freaking huge. He had a neck the size of most guy's quads.

Picking biceps or triceps is retarded. You want one freak muscle you pick either shoulders, chest, back or quads. Look at a recent pic of Flex Wheeler and that's the perfect example of an all arms physique. Looks narrow and weak.

Except for the rear -delt, my shoulders are shit. It would be nice to have big delts. My arms and my traps being pretty much my best, my delts look like nothing stuck in the middle.

Triceps.
The rest respond just fine to training, but it's only the triceps that I can't figure out what will get them to grow.
I've tried going heavier and also doing higher volume....now I'm just going to focus on only the basic lifts and see how that goes.
Anyway, lost a lot of mass after ditching my simpler Max-OT programme for volume and using a lot more isolation exercises. Probably been overtraining the Triceps now.

Chest. Just because then I could skip chest day, it's the same boring reps over and over, pushing at different angles and doing dips. Not as much variety as you get with other body parts.

good post. i would always choose delts over chest though; a strong chest with shit delts makes you look narrow and titty.

abbs can make or break a good physique too, ive seen too much guys with good build but with a big layer of fat around their middle, terrible.
im even so far to go that abbs/trimmed waist are most important.

It's possible to remove it permanently (assuming you don't go way overboard with junk food in the future) Only downside is that you have to diet for 4/5 months, which will cost a lot of muscle.

Unquestionably, the Levator Labii Superioris Aaeque Nasi is by far the most important "showcase" muscle.
That said, calfs are important as well. Nowadays most of the topmost competitors are genetically weaker than average in this crucial muscle although they do improve on their calf size through training somewhat. Unfortunately some of them inject their calfs with a deformation oil which leaves their calfs looking just that....deformed.
