Far too many people in the Republican party are doing this lately... The GOP has to do a lot to fix this.

I think Colin Powell started the domino Effect.   When the most decorated / Respected Militarty man in our lifetime says he is crossing party lines it makes others feel better about doing it as well...

I don’t always agree with him, but I have always admired Bill Weld.  He is a brilliant man, and I do not say that lightly.  He was governor of Massachusetts when I lived there so he has been on my radar screen for years.  I would have no problem voting for him even now.

But not for some professional missteps (Decker College, for example) he could have been governor of New York too.
