Title: Chavez endorses Obama

Chavez: Obama win could spur talks with U.S.

They sell 1/2 of their oil to non-US friendly nations.
They sell 1/2 of their oil to us *(at double the price)

They're #5 in the world in oil production, I think.
talking with them - and getting a more favorable deal - could help our economy a lot more than signing the SAFTA and setting up bases on their border :(

there's actually a slight concern in Europe that the hope that all political leaders have in Obama will mean he could get pretty much any deal he wants.
The risk is that the European leaders will agree to just about anything because it's coming from Obama.
Perhaps Chavez has bought into the hype as well.
Because regardless if Obama becomes the greatest president ever or something less, we couldn't possibly know by now. He just haven't shown a whole lot. Nothing bad. But not a whole lot of great things either.

I agree, the whole world wins with Obama, but loses with McBush.  Not sure what he meant by all making money.  Probably everyone doing better with America's economy fixed.

Obama wants the United States to be independent from foreign oil within 10 years. I agree 110 percent with him on this and I think we can do it.

This is bad news for countries like Venezuela, Russia, Iran, and Saudi Arabia.

Making the United States energy independent completely changes the playing field and how hostile countries (with oil) deal with us. Venezuela is quickly finding out that they can't fund their socialist welfare state and buy Russian military equipment without our petrodollars.

It's going to be very very interesting to watch and see if Obama sticks to his campaign promises and breaks us from our foreign oil addiction and makes assholes like Chavez and the islamofacists in the Middle East irrelevant.

I like to see the guy stick it to the oil countries, getting the big car makers in line et al.
That would also benefit us in Europe who are also dependant on oil and energy from other countries.
But I don't have too big hopes. he's just a pretty good politician. nothing more.

True.... but all he (or McCain should he be elected) should have to do is say he's going to do it and show real effort towards achieving that goal.

Think of Reagan and SDI. That did a pretty good job of spinning the USSR up.
