LUKE WOOD RETIRED !
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DONT KNOW IF THIS WAS POSTED:
"Hi guys. I type this with alot of emotion so i will do my best to make it understandable.
Ive decided for now to hang up my posing trunks. Ive been competing for 15 years straight, done every show here and excpet the Mr Oylmpia, done everty show over in the US. Im very proud and beyond happy with what ive achieved and i feel i have taken my body to its potential limit for now.
So yesterday i deicided this what is best for me!
Im a little hangover from last nite, as treated myself to a few drinks!
Im not say never ever will i compete, but i just need time out now. Maybe i will be back??? NEVER SAY NEVER.
The travelling, the training, the diet, yes the peformance enhencers and most of the cost of this sport has taken it toll on me!
I feel worn out and basically the fire is just not there. I have lost the passion for competing and training at such an insane intestiny which im know for for so many years.
I love bodybuilding! Its in my blood and runs through my viens! So when you feel you are not inlove with something that you were always inlove with than its time to let it go before you start hating it! Than there will always be a chance that the love with fire up again!
Im setting up my PT business and i really want to focus on Luke Wood the product now rather than Luke Wood the bodybuilder. I feel my name is name reconised not only on Australia but in most countries in the world when it comes to bodybuilding and it think now at 32 its time to set up my future financailly and cash in some of knowledge and experience.
I also plan on writing my own biography. Not sure when that will start but it will a no holds barred, not edited look into my life on stage, off stage, the travelling, the stress, the pain, the hi's, the low's and the everything inbetween!
THANKYOU!! Your every going support has been just awsome! you guys are the best!
To Tony Doherty, Paul and Carol Graham, Graig Lucas, Tanman and all the Ifbb officials, thankyou so much for giving me this life, my pro card, allowing be to turn professional and compete with the very elite of elite!
I will expand all my thankyous to the above in my book!
Ive had the awsome honour to work with some of Australia's best and elite champions! Thankyou and i will continue my contest prep help with anyone who wants me to help!
I will never leave the industry! Its my life!
Working with my dear friend Milos Sarcev has been just the most amazing experience! I learnt so much about the sport but also alot about me!
Too all my fans! I love you guys! There is never a day when i get a text, an email or a pm from someone who looks up to me and admires me! Its so humbling and at time embarassing as i just see myself as that little kid in the gym all those years ago and i still have to pitch myself when someone wants my autograph!! "Who me??? Why me" LOL!! it awsome!
Ive been so fortunate to have travelled the world because of bodybuilding. Ive guest posed all around Australia, Japan, The pacific Islands, USA and the Carribean. Its just some amazing when a promoter ask to be a special guest!
Thankyou to you all!
To all my sponsors! Thankyou! Its been great to work with you!
I hope anyone who brought ticket to watch me compete, a photo, a t'shirt and just some of my time walked away feeling better than they did before they saw me. I always gave it my 110% effort!
I never considered myself a great bodybuilder but a good bodybuilder who always gave his all and tired his hardest to get off his ass and have a go with the best in the world!
I also made sure no matter who it was i gave them the time of day and was never too good for anyone! i was taught at young age to always be humble!
I will still be avaliable to do seminars and guest appearances.
Lastly to my parents and family! f**k this is hard now! Thankyou all. I love you all more than life! the support and the sh*t you guys have put up with is amazing and i just love you all so much more for allowing me and supporting me to chase my dream!
You guys are my rock!
My Mum! You are larger than life! Never missed a show are guest pose and shed alot of tears seeing you boy up there on stage!
Mum you are the backbone of all i do! I love you!
Thankyou everyone!
Its been one hell of a ride!"

Luke is a good guy, regardless of what you think of him as a bber, hope it all goes well for him.

Wishing Luke success.

-

Probably a very wise decision.
-
Getbig has a way re-establishing the natural order of things.
However, the one who have met him will testify that Luke is a great guy nonetheless.
-
Luke and his Health will be so much better off if he stays off the BB stage.Don't think the guy made one penny from competing. He should join his dad in the Police Department and give up the Drug use.He should have been 5th one year in the NY show but the rest is history. How many is that now that Milos has FINISHED????MM,DJ,HIDE,CHRIS D,LUKE Himself and many more and they pay this guy. ::)
-
im sure you will miss those sessions putting the oil all over his body
Settle down mexican! ;D
-
Will this mean his pending marriage to a Female BB will not be going ahead???? :'(The Girl had more potential in BB than Luke could ever hope to have.

They've already gotten married, haven't they?
-
So will there be a press conference confirming his retirement?
No doubt it will be announced on CNN tommorow afternoon

Don't Know, does anyone have the news on the Marriage. If anyone knows it's GETBIG maybe Ron went to the Wedding.Just don't remember Milos posing in a church or Ben and Joe writing it up somewhere. So without pics didn't happen.
-
what will become of his old posiing trunks and soiled workout clothes? :'( i always liked his esprit de corp, sense of humor and personality.

That said good on him, not sure anyone would want to read his autobiography though
I think his last show, turning up in such a terrible condition and losing ALOT of size, hurt his mentality and there might be more to that story than just turning up out of shape. Only Luke and possibly his close friends will know.
Luke, at his best, was an amazing BBer. Only 32, still time for another run down the line.
-
I honestly think he was a grt BB- I think its sad that he got a lot of shit, and honestly dont think its very healthy for pros on boards- he had some not so grt showings- but I think he just needs a brk
just think of some of the pre show pics- they were awesome- should have just rolled in the shows like that instead of all the last minute shit
-
I copied a shoulder routine of his some time ago and got great results from it. Best of luck to him, making money from training, while not having to compromise his health is a good decision.
-
its truely sad when one of the greats hangs up his posing thong
...and he wasn't one of them.

HAHAHA! Reality is a bitch.... :-\

CNN Deportes, is all over it.
Does this mean there's a growing market for drug dealers is Oz, which Luke is looking to capitalize on?
-
Hank Wood got the best out of him :P
;D ;D ;D
-
I wish Luke the best. Good guy he is 8)
And i'm not being a dick or anything, but it's probably for the best. The last few years have been rough for Luke. No point in doing that for much longer...
-
...and he wasn't one of them.
::)
-
Do you think Milos will be sad because he isn't mentioned in Luke's "thankyous"??
I wonder what his biography will look like...
-
Good choice.
In this way, he dont need to kiss the ass of Milos anymore.
-
AIDS is such a terrible disease.

Exit, stage right!
-
So much for that Promoter telling everyone to come in march 09 to support a guy who won't be on stage.Sort of like when Dex didn't come back in 05.Maybe CC will get back there.Promoters don't give a Fuk about the Health of these guys.Just get on stage and help me make more MONEY from ticket sales,so I can give a Massive 10k for 1st and 1k for 5th.Why in trhe world is this guy quiting??So much Money and for so little RISK. ::)
-
Itīs a shame, he was a great bodybuilder.

Hi Luke!
-
I think he should do 1-2 more shows. He has great potential, but just seems to stuff up at the last minute.
2 weeks out last time would knock a lot of guys off onstage.
Anyway fair choice there is much more in life and at least he has more control over it than a BBing contest.

no matter what he still has to do last minute details and that where the problem lied for him,u just can't cruise in without anything last minute not at that level.2 wks out pics was not enough or else he would have tried to compete at that point in conditioning.
-
Luke is one of the nicest guys you'll ever met guys. Anyone who knows him, knows that he put his heart and soul into BBing...and he's got a big heart, the kind stuff he writes isn't bullshit.
Anyway, competing as a pro level BBer for many years will take a significant toll on an athlete's health IMO. I love seeing Luke onstage and supporting him, but honestly happy for him to take some time away from competitive BBing and enjoy working out, eating and living life.
In a couple yrs, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him onstage again. This time healthy and happy hopefully.
-
Health, Pro BB and Drugs just DON'T go together.FACT ::)

Luke = a great guy with a nice attitude and a big heart.

I doubt GetBig had anything to do with it. 15 years of competing is a long time. Even Arnold did about 10 (1980 excepted).

Luke always presented a hideous package. He was just put together all wrong.
And yes the roids, insulin etc. just seemed to make matters worse.
And then along came Milos......career over in an instant!
