Obama administration to ratchet up hunt for bin Laden.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President-elect Barack Obama wants to renew the U.S. commitment to finding al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, according to his national security advisers.
The Obama team believes the Bush administration has downplayed the importance of catching the FBI's most-wanted terrorist because it has not been able to find him.
"We will kill bin Laden. We will crush al Qaeda. That has to be our biggest national security priority," Obama said during the presidential debate on October 7.
But tracking down bin Laden won't be easy.
Remember when I asked you guys if you were up for another 5 years of military spending and deaths in another part of the world? This may be it.

We go after AQ everywhere. My question is Obama going to go after AQ with a completely new military, and entire new Special Ops force not affliated with our current military...um NO. Its the same guys doing the same job execept, based on past experience with Dem's, we'll be much more risk averse. Obama does not want to risk burnt Blackhawks and dead Seals, and thats what it might take if we can corner Bin Laden again. Bush has allowed our guys to go after AQ any place and into an country we find em. I hope the idiots in the Obama admin can keep their traps shut about it.

You have to wonder... it special forces had killed Bin laden with fire on Sept 12th or 15th or 20th...
Meaning we didn't import the war infrastructure to their region.

Pakistan has lost control of the tribal areas a long time ago.
I just hope that America gets more fixated on winning in Afghanistan and developing the Afghan military so that NATO can leave.
It took 3 years to stand up 150,000 soldiers in Iraq. What the heck is taking so long in Afghanistan.

240 U really need to read "Kill Bin Laden"....ur idea about what happened there is not correct. Its never as clear cut as whats put out by popular media. The "Generals" were part of the problem. U had a company of Rangers ready to seal the back door, u had aircraft ready to mine the passes. It was the risk aversion that has been prevelant since Clinton, that hurt our efforts. Not to mention terrain and our "allies" among the Afghi and Pakistani military that hampered our efforts.

I am now of the firm belief that NATO is a complete waste of time.
An new Alliance should be formed with most of the new members like Poland and Czech republic, but also including new partners like Taiwan, and Australia.

The Aussies and New Zealand SF have fought well. The Koreans do engineering projects and don't fight. The Brits of course do their thing. They brought in the Gurka's which scare the absolute shit out of the Mujha's. I wish the French would send in the Legion. I'm not sure why they're not there. The French are around Kabul and do nothing...we almost got sandwiched between two of their madmax trucks after an IED in downtown Kabul. We were in small SUV's and my driver managed to "Tokyo drift" between two of em as they came out of the smoke and dust. For alomost dying, it was pretty fucking cool.

I saw the Gurka's in when I was England last year. They are the preferred guard for the Royal family and royal sites. Those are some scary SOBS. They also performed the best marching I ever saw.
If there is another election between now and 2011 I won't be surprised to see the Canadian stay in Kandahar lengthened. Especially since if they leave no one else, except America, will fill the void. I am sure that US can offer something to Canada to let us stay longer. Bush has done nothing but diminish the US relationship with Canada in public.
